It is hard to get good work on blocks,

I one time in about 1982 built a 1970 XF 455 into a 440 got the block align honed just to make sure it was perfect, somehow burnt a rear main bearing reworked main saddle again drove it for quite a while then wanted to refreash it #1 main was worn to copper in one spot #2 #3 #4 was worn at the same spot just a little less going back to the rear main which was ok

new timing chain was sloppy at the last build, i threw in the towel on that block removed and sold the caps and chucked the block in a dumpster

back before internet i was not aware of shorter chains not sure i would of addressed the main saddle again anyways seemed to be beating a dead horse
