Default 1965 Power Antenna Replacement Mast, Where to Buy One?

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement power antenna mast for my '65? The mast that came with the antenna unit I bought is bent and I'd like to replace it. I've tried searching the threads for this information, but I don't see anything.

Thanks,
Doug

They are not reproduced. Ebay is about it. Plan on $500 +.

I had my front fender hole welded shut when repainted. I've tried a couple of hidden antennas. They are garbage. Now I'd like to add an antenna to the rear quarter. Always thought that was cool! As stated, the factory ones go for gold prices. There are a few aftermarket ones that are pretty inexpensive. I'm nervous about those. This one looks ok'ish. At least has chrome nut and assortment of angled bezels.

Can you carefully straighten the bent one? I had a Chrysler mast that was bent but not kinked and with patience managed to straighten it.

There is also a guy in Florida that refurbishes and sells. His name is Frank Rosenzweig. Contact me if you want his contact info.

Thank you for your reply. I just bought another on eBay that needs some work and I hope I can make one out of the two. I also bought a new "repo" style power antenna that I'm working on machining new parts to replace the mast housing pole with pieces that will allow me to add the reproduction parts where it meets / comes through the body.

I haven't tried that yet because I'm hoping that a new mast might be available, but it doesn't seem like they are. I'll give it a go and see how that works. Thanks.

You're welcome. I just bought an NOS (looks like lol) "Harada MX-22 AM/FM Universal Fully Automatic Power Antenna". Bought it on eBay for $50+shipping. I hope I can use the factory style nut and spacer on it. Not sure if the threads are universal on these? Probably not. Ugh. What have you figured out on yours? Unfortunately I don't have access to a machine shop now. I just retired. lol

I had to return the other power antenna that I got because it was junk. I'm still trying to find a replacement mast for the other unit, but I'm also making a new mast tube for a similar new power antenna unit like the one you bought.

Ok. Keep me posted. I haven't even really gotten started yet. Gonna have to have a few beers to work up the courage to drill a hole in my quarter panel! lol

80's models Lincoln Town Cars used a very similar power antenna.
The mast is practically identical "looking" .

They mount vertical instead of angled - but possibly could be reconfigured.
The mast should be a workable substitute if you have everything else.

If a PHS doesn't list a power antenna , I would not bother with one at all.
Gas Tires and Oil just keep getting more expensive

I just finished installing a power antenna in my '64 GTO. Found the location dimensions in another thread here. It works great! I bought a Harada brand based on reco from member here. Got one for $50. I bought a reproduction angled adapter and nut. The adapter turned out to be a manual one. UGH! That's a whole other story. The factory nut threads were too large for the Harad mast. But I got lucky there. The I.D. of the factory nut was only about .015" smaller than the O.D. of the Harada nut. I opened up the threads a little and it fit like a glove. Hard to even see that it's not just a factory nut. My car is far from a resto. So NBD to me. I was tempted to move the antenna an inch farther forward. But wanted it in the factory spot. It interfered with the spare tire. Ugh! Had to get creative on remounting the spare. Will revisit that later. Wish I would of bought this antenna instead (still might): https://www.crutchfield.com/S-RTT5FD...YaAneqEALw_wcB

Thank you for the information. How did you open up the reproduction nut to match the threads of the Harada?

You totally welcome. Unfortunately, I'm retired and don't have access to a metal lathe anymore. So, I used a abrasive cartridge roll on a straight die grinder.

I forgot to add something. I bought the adapter and nut from Ebay. The nut is pretty good quality. The adapter is terrible. The chrome looks like stainless and has bubbles in it. They also sent me the wrong one. The one pictured in their add is the shorter power antenna adapter. They sent me the taller manual one. He is supposed to be sending the correct one. We'll see. I ordered one from OPGI, but is on backorder. I feel like half of their stuff is on backorder. Should check others I know. Will revisit...

Thanks again! Are threads the same, just the internal threads on your repo Pontiac nut were slightly too small?

The factory nut is too big for the aftermarket antenna mast threads. I have the aftermarket nut fit inside the factory repop one.
