Default Buzzing from instrument cluster

Well, I am enjoying my winter projects results - car is running like a scaled ape and the new exhaust sounds incredible. I’ll put up a comparison on another thread to hear difference.

My question is this- I’ve all of the sudden gotten a buzzing coming from the instrument cluster. It loosely follows rpm and is quietest at idle, but still discernible. I’ve recently rewired msd box and the tach adapter, so not sure if something there. How would you trouble shoot this? thanks for any thoughts

Pop the speedo cable out of the speedo, see if the noise goes away or at least changes.

Mufflers are too quiet.

Sometimes the voltage regulator will buzz (just before it dies).

Heat cycles over the decades have broke down the material holding the windings in place in the inductor in the old style regulator as stated in the above post.

You said you recently installed a MSD and tach adapter. Disconnect tach wire.
Process of elimination. Good luck. Let us know.
