Wanted - A-body 8.5" Rear (‘71-‘72 Buick/Olds) local pickup in So Cal Only
Looking for a good used 8.5" 10-bolt rear axle assembly in working condition or even just a bare housing with or without axles. I have a 2.73 gear set and posi unit I want to install in it.
Must be from a '71-'72 Buick or Olds A-body with bolt-in axles (no C-clips) equipped with A9 tapered axle bearings. Must be located in or near the So Cal/Los Angeles/San Diego area so I can pick it up, I'm not interested in paying to ship one of these. If you have one of these and happen to be heading to So Cal for any reason I can meet you somewhere in So Cal that’s convenient for you and pick it up. Please send me a PM if you have one for sale, thanks. |

I have one in NH, could get it to Norwalk next year if you know anyone who goes.

Thank you for your reply, however the logistics seem daunting.
If someone happens to be heading to California on vacation and has room to bring one of these along then I’ll meet you somewhere in So Cal with cash. Disneyland anyone? Still looking in So Cal. |

So I can keep an eye out for this very same part (alas, here in the Midwest #ope) is this found in ALL of the '71-2 Buick/Olds A-Bodies, or just certain models (stawag, for example.)
Boneyards used to be full of them around here, but were generally worn out by the time they hit the stacks, whereas the Ford/Mopar stuff died early deaths due to rust. |
