Default 71 GTO with factory installed Judge options

Looking at getting back into the GTO game
Have the opportunity to get a 71 GTO that needs a complete restoration
It’s a 71 with the following factory installed options
Black bench seat
Lucerne blue
455 ho
Ram air
M22 4 speed
Hood tach
Rear spoiler
Accent stripe
Rear safe t track 3.55 gears
Power steering
Handling package
Rally wheels
Production date May 4 1971
What I’m wondering is after restoring to concourse gold level what the value may be
The engine is a replacement block and the transmission and rear differential are missing

The Judge vs GTO HO value.

The value is in a matching drivetrain. Date coded components.

Judge will win value contest with those things in the favor.

A LB 455 HO, RA, M22 posi, with factory hood tach, spoiler, stripes. The discontinued Judge
Will come close to The Judge value. LB RA is a big boost…

Do you have the PHS for this car? Would be interesting to see if the spoiler was a factory option on that car. Did the handling package come with the 15" wheels? I have a project very similar to yours, but I'm missing the engine and trans unfortunately.

This '71 HO was on Bring-a-Trailer in 2022. Brought $120K, which I think may be a high water mark for a numbers matching non-Judge. Really sharp car.

Yours sounds nice. Lucy Blue - my fave '71 color ...

It was bought new in Canada so I have the Canadian documentation and the build sheet from under the gas tank the trunk spoiler is listed on the Canadian documentation so I believe it came from the factory with it

Darren, the Lucerne Blue HO-RA M22 GTO hardtop sounds like a very special one. My thought is if you have a fairly deep stock of nice used & nos parts, well worthy of taking to a high level.

D80 rear spoiler became avail on LeMans Sport converts & GT-37's in the Spring of '71. On '71 GTO's the factory rear spoiler installation seems to follow a similar pattern, began showing up on builds in mid to late March of '71. Not a ton of them were factory installed, & all the GTO's I have info with factory installed spoiler were on factory higher performance builds. Does your Canadian documentation note how many '71 GTO's were shipped to Canada w D80 option?

The Canadian docs just list
Number imported
For sale in Canada
Same model number only. 586
So I believe that means 586 24237 GTOs where imported into Canada in 1971

Pggto the documents list N98 wheel rally II road and PK5 G70x14 white letter
So Y98 handling package didn’t get 15in wheels on this car

Mine lists Y96 as the firm ride group, N98 for Rally II wheels, and PJ4 for G60x15 tires.

Darren ,very desirable, unique 1971 GTO with top shelf driveline with good factory options and color combo.

Car appears to be ordered by someone who wanted a 1971 GTO Judge but was late to the cancellation party.

Hope you restore or sell it to someone who will.

Well, not a GTO. But same factory drivetrain, color, striped, and wing…

But, no hood tach and vinyl roof.

Muscle_Collector had a Black one , and an Orbit Orange one
Both were GTO 455HO , D98 stripe , D80 spoiler , 3spd clutch cars
With numbers drivetrains
Those are the only 2 other GTO's like yours I have known of.
The kickers being spoiler & stripes , but mostly the spoiler. (on HO cars)

The OO car was sold not too long ago and will get a full blown concours resto.
The Black one I think he said he sold it 30'ish years ago and hasn't been seen since.

Can't remember right now if either of his cars had hood tachs.

Can't think of coming across many 71 cars with documented Spoiler option.
GTO or otherwise
Maybe about 6 all together

McKinnon built 12 bolt c-clip rear coded XVK with an E (peculiar style of stamping). Not an easy core rear to find.

The McKinnon 12 bolt c-clip rear for Pontiac use has its own axles due to different diam centering hole for brake drums, different backing plates, & a 3R pinion yoke. No cast date code in lower rh webbing. All these points are contrary to what one will find on typical Elco- Malibu-Chevelle 12 bolt. That noted, one can take a common 70-72 "278" casting Chevy usage 12 bolt & build it up, if so inclined.

1970 did for sure. Believe 71 and 72 did also. But would have to look it up.
