Default Static Compression and this Cam

Hey guys

I ran across a rebuilt 462 with a Lunati 0711 roller cam. The engine is built with 108cc milled 4x-H1 heads. Is this too much cam for an 8.5:1 motor?
Thanks for your input.

I don’t feel it’s too much cam as long as you have better 2.93 rear gears and the converter is not stock stall if the car is a automatic.

One condition though is that cams valve lift.
The heads need to be set up for that amount of lift and factory length push rods will not work.

What valve spring was used ? And the verified installed height ?

According to the link here the spring touted on the cam card is rated with ONLY 115 lbs on the seat at 1.700".

That’s a small cam for a 462 at 8.5:1.

With 3.55 gears it should be okay with a stock converter, something like a 2500 stall would be nice though.

Contrast it to this 455 with 8.6:1:

If iam not mistaken that cam has less seat duation than a 068 cam and being sub 220 intake duration its going to run (power band) like a bone stock 455 with more torque everywhere, i don't think compression, gearing or converter will be an issue
