Default 69 Model J family project

My 69 Expresso Brown GP is getting close to finishing, it has been a long project. A few details, frame off resto numbers matching 428HO 4 speed. My dad bought the car new from a dealer in Illinois, luckily we moved to AZ in Oct 69 and the body was spared. Kept everything as original as possible with the exception of a few little tweaks to the engine. I have another distraction now with my 69 Castilian Bronze Model J 428 (370HP) 4 speed car. At least I can get my driving fix now with A/C and power steering.

Nice car!! It's great that you and your family held on to it. A 1 owner car is not just a car, but it is part of the family! It's nice to know the entire history of your car, but more importantly all the memories. My 71 GP is a one owner. My parents ordered new from Rightway Pontiac in Dekalb, IL. They gave it to me for my 16th birthday. Enjoy the new life you have given your beauty!!!

The blue ones hold air....Helps the car roll off the trailer.

I'd think that a set of Radirs with G 70 15 redlines would look right. Going to do a set of mags and maybe Cal Customs stuff under the hood on this one. For fun. then when I show it, I'm automatically out of the running for awards. i enjoy the show more without the stress of the last flake of dust to worry about....Then I can leave the Goodyear freckles on it as well.

You have to love the "all in the Family" brown car three posts up. (BTW, who are you??? where is home?) Bronze is a great color as well. Seems we have another GP nut on our hands here, don't we boys??? I"d love to see both those cars someday!!!

This former Sammy Davis Jr. owned converted GP sold for over $26,000. Was reported to originally have been painted green.

Default 69 Model J Family project

Keith,
I live in Phoenix, AZ and have been a GP nut since I was old enough to know how to say Pontiac. My dad has always had Pontiacs, when he purchased the Expresso Brown 69 he traded in a 66 2+2 with a 421 tri-power 4 speed. He ordered the GP with the biggest engine, 4 speed, no a/c and no power steering. Picked up the Bronze car in CA earlier this year, needs a few things but drives nice and looks good so I can take it local shows. Should have the brown car done by the end of he year.
Bob

That looks great!!

I also have my original spare. I did take it out and now just display it. I only wish they would repop this tire! I haven't seen any others like these.

Beautiful GP! That's a great 16th B'day gift! I like Model J's with the engine upgrade option and its well optioned otherwise too. Sure would look nice in my garage!

How many miles on the car and how much restoration has been done? Looks showroom new. Really like those rear seat pillows. Did you have those made?

Wes,

That sure is a good looking '70 SJ! Really like that color combo. So neat to see an original spare in place that's never been down.

That is an interesting tire! I've never seen that one before either. Most had the Uniroyal with a solid dual pin-white stripe. Do you have your original build sheet or window sticker that shows an optional tire listed? I'd be curious to know...

Thanks Grant,

The car has almost 170,000 miles. The car went through a full frame off rotisserie restoration completed in 2008. I started hoarding parts back in 81. Been buying up nos parts since then. There are very few repop items used in this resto. Basically only suspension and brake parts. My step dad owned his own auto upholstery business and he redid the seats about 27 years with original gm material and he made those pillows up for me and they have been in the car ever since.

Ron
