I will ask John if he would be interested in 3D printing them in plastic! The screen is avail on the open market.Unless you have a fire the plastic should be fine.Tom

One way or another I will get this cool intake with some sort of air cleaner under that hood! Just looking for the easiest way to make it happen. Appreciate all the efforts from Tom and Jim and others. Can't wait for my own version to play with and make fit. Keep the momentum going!!

Follow up on driving.Put about 35 miles on it today and maybe about another 45 tomorrow. At highway speeds about 2100 RPMs seemed like it needed a little more throttle, hard to tell as the pedal is a little closer to the floor.Am amazed how well it will drive in 4th gear at 1100 RPMs with a 2.68 rear gear, can actually pass a slower car without pulling back a gear.I did not expect the W plenum to drive as well as the flat floor version.REALLY happy with the install.Tom

Intake with 4160 carbs
Carbs are positioned about .500" between bowls.

Thanks for the pic and info Jim, can you comment on the height of those carbs in relation to what Tom's currently using? I'm certainly up in the air on carbs. My intake will be going on a 400 in a 68 Goat and although it would be nice, it's not critical to emulate a SD setup. Am also assuming I'll have a bit more room. Thanks Again, Frank

First of all you will need adapters to run Holleys which will make them taller. If and when I ever get some casted I will have a top machined shorter BUT with anyone concerned about hood clearance plan on 5 in top AFBs OR a hood scoop or Both!Tom

I presume 1/2" would do it. Well there goes the extra room, lol. So be it... a non issue to me actually.
I feel there is possibly more room under my hood, although it would be nice it's not a deal breaker, Does this mean your still unsure about production, if so, does that mean for the early and the late? Frank

Still waiting for the 3D one piece intake to confirm the port change is correct. The early pattern will be the first to be done.Tom

Tom stopped by the shop today to pick up the latest 3D printed intake, and I got a chance to drive his '62 with the intake and dual quads. Pretty surprising how tractable this setup is for pure street driving. I've never driven a dual quad car that idles this nice with such good low RPM response. No lugging, no constant shifting to keep rev's up, truly a daily driver.
Very docile around town, much more so than my tri-power '64.

That is great news. I assume Tom has near 200 miles on his intake now. I have never owned a 2x4 for daily driver use, but look forward to doing so with the bathtub. I have owned 5 tri-power cars, from 389 GTO's to 421 HO Catalinas and every one drove like a stock 2bbl. engine from idle to about 40% throttle where the front and rear carb began to function. I found them to have excellent street manners and get decent mileage for the time period. Just my experience.

Got home from John’s shop and put the base part of the corrected scan and am very happy.I found I needed 2 gadgets a side for hood install.I’m told that would not be a issue when cast as the castings will have added material for machining.Planning on going to the pattern-casting place next week with scan and the latest 3D print.Tom

This engine is a basic 63 421 HO short block with dish pistons at 9.5 CR.The heads are BONE stock 96s with a 068 cam. And it starts with just a hit of the key when warmed up,after setting for a week it needed some spins on the engine and some pumping on the throttle. After that it virtually never even need a couple turns to fire.Actually I got myself in a little trouble last weekend and almost got run over by the car.A story for another time. When driving I was trying to get John to short shift so he could see how it will pull in 4th gear at just under 1500 RPMs without any chugging, bogging or having to pull back to 3rd and that is with a 2.68 rear gear.Cant say I could be any happier with the intake and the carbs.Tom
