This comparison to the flu got me to thinking about at least one difference...People with the flu don't go partying at the beach and in general, attend any functions where large numbers congregate...they're home in bed. In other words, they are not generally asymptomatic...That makes a big difference in my book. Especially, considering that this is much more contagious, PLUS the fact that no one knows for sure what this virus will do long term.
Suppose it turns out to thrive and become more deadly in warm weather?

Just got back from the grocery store- very surreal. Shelves cleaned out, reduced hours, and markers every 6’ to mark where you should stand in line.

Just got home from the grocery. No TP or paper towels, some meat (no chicken) but no lines either. We were short of dried beans, but we did find enough for us. You The stocking crews were busy refilling the shelves. If people would start using their heads and start thinking logically the shortages would end. Here at the local Sam’s Club they had to have a police officer present to make each customer only took 1 30 roll pack of TP.

I just discussed with wife about how produce sits out, vulnerable to germs. We bought yellow and zucchini squash a few days ago at Publix, I had her grab the wrapped packages. Got bell peppers a few days before at Samsclub, in bags.

However bananas are always out by the doors at Walmart.

Even with many places moving to "takeout only", I'm concerned.

I'm just no longer good with this much exposure of foods we eat.

I guess it's time to plant a garden, and otherwise use stuff in our pantry.

Just got back from my 24hr Shoprite...... plenty of food.... and even a small quantity of paper products, but limiting to ONE of each type of product.

The real concerning thing to me is they are now going to be closing from 12am to 6am each day...... and that was heard to be a compromise between owners...... one of the owners wanted to shut down completely !!!!!

That would be concerning if supermarkets decided to close completely of their own accord.....

Wink corona experience

Just cleared the covid19 flu.

I wanted to give you guys a rapport on this.
For me it wasn't a big deal , pretty mutch the same to a flu.
Difference is , I usually clear the regular flu in a couple of days with everything at ones (headache , sore throat , slight fever , coughing).

This takes longer because the symptoms are separated.
So you get a days worth of splitting headache , feel better the next day and the day following that you wil get a hint of sore throat etc. etc.

To be honest , for me the regular flu makes me take a couple of days of lying down and sleeping a lot.
For this I didn't even stop working and I have a very physical demanding job.
Allways outsite carrying around tools and hardware , Climbing ladders and stuff.

Got a little worried when it got to my lungs . . . mostly because of the media.
Cleared that as ussual , no big deal.

Now I'm just a closing down snot factory.

My advice . . . Be carefull and prepared , but don't get scared.
Best of luck to you all.

Bob.

Thank you, Bob, for providing first hand details. I didn't read any fear, panic, uncertainty, etc, in his words. Just the facts.
I'm thinking over 99% of the people who contract this will respond as he did, sick for a bit, and then a recovery. If the media would focus on stories like this, instead of hammering home just the number of death's, we would all be better off.

I called my physician about the situation and gave him my symptoms , asked to be tested.
Because I come across a lot of people in my profession (customers / colleagues) .
He told me that i had 80% chance of having covid19 , beeing that I'm from a area that's heavely struck with it .
I also visited a hospital for a shoulder complaint I had , and that day it was filled with covid patients.
He refused to test me because the test are in reserve for seriously ill patients.
So I'm not 100% sure but the facts mostly point in that direction.

When tests become plentiful i'll be called in for one.

I think I have it too and so does the lady. She's suffering a bit more than I am, we have most of the symptoms and are both feeling our lungs and it's a little scary.. hope it passes.
No more getting tested here at the moment unless you're being admitted into hospital and if you have it that bad.... it's not good.

I live very close to the area in this country that's been struck hardest and personally I believe we're going to go the way Italy has been going, its going to get a lot worse and think this one will last for another 6 months and is going to wreck the economy.

This never made sense?
Why not just wait till they die, then you'll know for sure? Save that test all together.

I would want to know if the guy next to me has it so I stay further away from them.
He may not have any symptoms, but still passing it around to all the susceptible ones.
Which I guess if one has any symptom of anything they should not be out period.
But then their spouse would be out and they probably have it too.

Wink Don't panic.

Sorry to hear that Charlie , but you'll probably recover just fine.
It's all old (80+) people who are in a weakend state that don't recover.
Stay clear of them to not get them infected.
The economy will be fine either , just try not to overemphasize problems and tackel them according goverment prescription.
They have the overview we citizens don't have.
Use your common sense you'll be oke.

The biggest danger with this virus is that there is no easy treatment for it to prevent pneumonia like we have with the flu and that you can be a carrier and infected for almost a week without knowing it, making spreading extremely easy. Because the immunocompromised and elderly are going to the hospitals in record numbers, it is overwhelming the medical system and has the potential to cause more problems if we don't get the spread under control.

It's only worse than the flu because it easily progresses to pneumonia requiring a ventilator and hospitalization in the worst cases.

As a chemo patient who is at-risk, I'm not freaking out or even worrying too much. I'm just continuing to be smart and continuing to wash my hands like a mechanic coming in from the garage and we'll get through it. I wish I could get a damn job though...
