4birds, Though Darrell, Darrell, & Scott have been working on it (and other F-bodies) it doesn't look much different as it gets closer to paint. Darrell (Sr.) said that the gang is finishing rear end body work (tail & rear window panels) this week, with most in final primer. Maybe should be done in a month (?) then time for winter assembly.

It's ready for paint down at Darrell's. I can't wait to see it all in Canyon Copper. The Honeycomb paint is too bright a silver, is there a rattle can color that is close to the original pewter silver color?

Dennis - you are getting close. Must be exciting, Try OER K89315 on the wheels. It does a great job. The last couple of sprays should be just a dusting from 2' to 3' away so that it goes on dry and gives the correct texture.

Bob, thanks for the paint recommendation and tips. Yeah, it's getting exciting. I can't wait for next spring to finally drive it for the first time. Thinking of also doing the steel wheel and dog dish theme to mix it up a little.

I think the steel wheels and dog dish caps would look great.

Dennis, Maybe next year you can put together a nice display of those HO Formies for MCACN..

Get some nice debuts of gregdog, bentwheelbob, plus yours, add in some silver with Brewster, Sean, Ricks gto, and add color with 4 birds, Charles Bledsoe, sundance, etc...

Mike, that's a great idea. I'll run it by Bob Ashton and see what he thinks. To get all different colors together would be a great display.

Chuck, thanks for sending Kent's contact info. He's been very helpful.

How about a 455 Formula-Palooza? I'd love to bring the 73!

Steve, absolutely! It could be a round-port Formula round-up.

Just be sure to not conflict with Cream Puff Nationals Week. All the press will be there, so you would have limited coverage at FormyFest.

I think that would be a different display - sort of like the SD grouping in 2013. The HO formulas are very unique on their own.

Regardless, this show seems to always fall on my daughters birthday. We had a "redneck" party yesterday and took her and 11 friends to the local Paintball course. Turning a dozen 15 year old girls loose with fully automatic paintball guns and 1000 paintballs is priceless. Sort of like giving gumdrops to a litter of kittens...

bird72, Cream Puff Nationals Week!!! I love it (lmao)! We'll make sure not to conflict with the CPNW event. Where's that going to happen? I don't want to miss it.

Bob, too bad about your daughters b-day being the same time as MCACN, but who could say no to seeing a dozen 15 year old girls on a paintball course. Next year you'll have to celebrate her b-day early so you can come to the best indoor show in the country where the biggest display of 455HO Formulas ever to be seen together. Oooh, l like the idea of this....

I love how the CPNW has NW (as in northwest) in it as that's where a lot of the CP's seem to come from.

Default Color!

Darrell & Scott are applying the color to the sheet metal! We're getting close to bringing it home for assembly.

Nice color, are you keeping the interior Sienna, or changing the color?

I'm keeping the sienna, even though the seat covers look more like the standard non-comfortweave type when they were redone by a PO. They look nice and we installed a new sienna dash pad, it has a new sienna headliner, and the original sienna carpet is still in great shape, so no reason to change and the color is growing in me. Personally, I would have chosen black deluxe, so now it's all orange-ish inside and out. The brighter color does help seeing things around the interior, so that's a minor plus. It is unusual as I haven't seen another Canyon Copper/Sienna Firebird myself. I have seen Mike's 71 GTO's that he used to own in that color combo.
