Here's a picture of my 1968 April Gold GTO Convertible. The photo was taken 32 years ago at Englishtown.
The car was all stock and an automatic, it ran 13.93 @ 101 with my limited knowledge for 1/4 mile prep. That was my pride and joy. |

Impressive. What rear? A/C?

It was a non a/c, open rear car with the standard 3:36 ratio, but with a bit of practice I could launch cleanly even on street tires.

What do you guys think about this? I happened across it on an artist's forum of all things. I kind of like this rendering. Origin is here- http://hayw1r3.deviantart.com/art/Po...e-68-195092342

It's nice and no doubt has vast improvements but count me in as a purest.

I always liked the perky in front stock stance, never like to see the ass in the air, looking at gas tanks, diffs and tailpipes from behind.

It's not something I would choose to do to MY car, but the overall look of this one rather appealed to me for some reason.
I don't like the jacked up rear look myself but on this car, the rear is about stock height...The front is just very low.

The problem with dropping the front end is the lever effect, the rear bumper pops up. The non stock look I kind of like is what Pontiac did itself in ads etc...
Lower all four corners an inch and fatten up the wheels and tires.

It is an interesting story. I have a thread on it under 69 Lemans??? I did get to speak to the second owner who knew the original owner and got quite a bit of information from him. The car had some interesting options on the PHS such as rally gauges and in dash tach, power windows, A/C etc... but more than half of the options were added to the car. Most were done by the original owner and through a Pontiac dealership. Some are not correct for 69 (roof map light is for 70 as well as the power door locks). The second owner added the Rally II wheels, dual exhaust, reverb, AM-FM stereo, etc... The amazing thing is they all work perfectly and look as if they were on the car from day one. A few of the options I may remove as I think they are out of place on the car (rear wing and exhaust tips). However the car has 77,502 original miles, was purchased new in Omaha, Nebraska, and promptly moved to California until being shipped to Central Florida in 2012.
