I'm no fan of pinstripes on any car, but I gotta say in this case they do make the car look better. It kind of looks plain without them in the top photo.
Maybe I got to re-think the stripe on my car

Charles,
That is one gorgeous automobile!!! I absolutely love the stripes! I can't wait to drive up there and see it! Unfortunately it will be a few months.... No Biloxi this year. I just have too much money left to spend before I can assemble my engine! Karl |

Your car would look good with a black stripe IMO. Understated but still complimentary to the black wheels and interior.

That was an option in 66. Black or Ivory with Red paint.

But only the single stripe as Greg said... no double stripes like 67's had.

I know it was an option, and a single stripe. I have just never been a pinstripe fan. I like 'em nekked.

Something worked right today. Drove to Biloxi, Ms for the "Crusin the Coast" get together. 180 miles of pure driving excitement again with NO problems!
Running 75 on the interstate with this old car just begging for me to put the right foot down. Which I did a couple of times just for glee! Damn it feels good to be back in this car. Had a hard time getting used to the "calibrated" temp gauge never getting over 180. Mama even turned around to look in the back seat and say "OK, you kids be quite back there"! Lot's of memories in this "Old Goat". Charles Last edited by Old Goat 67; 10-09-2012 at 11:30 PM. |

For those of y'all that don't know, I am Charles' youngest son. Momma passed away in May after fighting cancer for 7 years. Dad said that he promised Mom that he would keep the car forever, but without her here, forever has come and gone. It was time for the GTO to go.
I went to Dad's house to help get the GTO out of storage to clean up and fix a couple of minor problems so that I could take it to Cruisin' the Coast this past week with a "For Sale" sign in the window. We put new tires on it since it wasn't worth the risk of running on 12 year old tires. I got the first offer before I even left for CTC, and even though I knew it was too low for Dad to accept, it still made my stomach drop when I realized that it was about to really be gone. That car has been under the carport since I've been alive. Hell, I think I was almost born on the front seat of it. I couldn't let it go to someone who was just going to flip it for a profit instead of loving it like Dad has all these years. You guessed it, Dad and I have worked out a deal and the car will be staying in the original owner's family for as long as I have anything to say about it. When i went to tell my wife that I committed to buying it, I was ready for some pretty strong resistance, but she replied with "Oh, that's it? I knew you were going to end up buying it." Now I have to clean up my shop and possibly liquidate a couple of project vehicles to get enough room to keep it safe in there. It also comes with every original part that has been taken off through the years with the exception of the original Quadrajet, so I need room for all of that also. I did still take it to CTC instead of my Blazer even though it wasn't for sale anymore, and it performed almost flawlessly the entire time. It doesn't seem to like today's gasoline, but a couple of tanks of ethanol-free 93 octane helped out the slight pinging quite a bit. Maybe we'll tweak the timing a bit before its next show in November. It seemed like the more it was driven, the more it wanted to be driven! I don't see myself doing too much to it besides maintaining it for the next generation and enjoying like it was meant to be enjoyed, although if a Power Tour or other long trip presents itself, I may have to throw a GV unit on the TH400 just to save some wear on the original engine, plus it's easily reversible. Who knows, maybe I'll convince the Old Goat himself to hit the road with me one day.

Great to see some photos of the 67 again Steven. I talked to the Old Goat yesterday (He called me wondering what you and I were talking about. LOL) and I know he's gonna miss it. At least if he gets the urge he'll know where it is so he can take it for a drive... oops I mean ride with the new owner. LOL

George, both he and I lost power for a few days and few smaller branches. Nothing unexpected.
