Yeah, I stored it in a carport over the winter two years ago, and the carport collapsed under the snow, damaging the drivers side fender, and the roof above the a and c pillars. A repaint was required, and since my now ex father in law is holding equipment, tools, three vehicles, and a bunch of engines hostage for money he claims I owe him, which I don't (he actually owes me over $1000) I decided to make it how I want it.

Originally it was red, black interior, 4 barrel, 4 speed, 389. So the maize wasn't original, and it is far too grandpa like for me. Plasma are in the works for new wheels and tires, possibly the Hurst wheels in gold. I like this blue, so I made it my summer driver as soon as I get it done.

Thanks B, I sent him a note. We'll see how it unfolds. For now I'll post some pics of what I been doing.

Had to build a shop, took a year to get everything going after buying the land, and then all last summer to get the shop and my house done enough to live here. I spring for a lift too, always wanted one.

FIxing the damage on the roof and fender, and reworking the rear window so the glass will actually fit and seal. Didn't have the glass when I did the metal work the first time.

Added some EFI, seems to work great so far.

Roughed up the yellow, and shot epoxy primer on to act as a sealer.

Got a GTO hood too.

Made it blue last Saturday.

Cut the clear down to get rid of the orange peel.

Then buffed it out..

Had to put the rusty LeMans bumpers back on since I cant swing new ones, and its a driver, not a show car.

Sorry to hear about all your ex in-law problems. Glad you got to keep that car though...especially after you put so much of yourself into it. What with all the blood, sweat and maybe a few tears. If I can add a little humor to a serious situation. Remember that old joke: "What's the difference between in-laws and outlaws? Outlaws are wanted".
Good luck
Tony

Its called Flame Blue, its on new Ford trucks. It's not metallic, it has lots of pearl in it and man does it look good in the sunlight when its all cleaned up.

Yeah, inlaws are not wanted. I don't think they have seen it yet despite me driving it everywhere. He is holding my Mustang hostage trying to get money out of me, so no need to irritate him.

Made some changes since I posted last, and it has 1400 miles on it too. I am driving it all the time, and enjoying every minute of it. Not my favorite wheels, but they are cheap and look better than the Rally I's without caps and rings. Also have a set of Ansen Sprint and gold Hurst Dazzlers for it. These got the cheap Cooper tires. Over the winter I'll get better tires for it.

The girls around here really like it....

Parked next to my friend Larry who has a 65 as well as a 69 Judge and a blue 06 six speed GTO. Lots of attention driving this old Goat around. Been doing the show and shines and cruises so I can meet more car guys, since I have one presentable.

This pic shows the way the paint pops in the light, its my bud's garage and his VW hippie bus.

Man, what a great read. Amazing work and perseverance. I recently purchased a 65 Tempest wagon that is sort of in the same shape (maybe not quite as bad) as your car was. You thread is an inspiration.

Man, that looks pretty in the sunlight! I've always liked Torq-Thrust for the hot rod musclecar look!

Thanks Hooter... couldn't have done it without you.

Decided to go back to the name I used back in 06, since I can still get into the email associated with it and its close to what I had before. Im back from a hiatus, OMT told me to come back here so here I am, you don't argue with OMT.

Put a bunch of miles on it last summer. This year it is going to Nebraska for a 600 mile drive with other geargheads. Currently in the middle of swapping a Grand Cherokee steering box into it, just can't stand that super light 65 box. Already has a WS6 swaybar, and I will probably put the rear bar from my 70 on it too. That way when I turn it squishes gray matter out my ears.

I'll have video of it too.

Put a different set of wheels on it and took it out Saturday, was invited to Advance for a car guy thing so it was as good an excuse as any.
The Jeep box works great, drives so much better and I'm not spinning the steering wheel like its a ore boat. Good road feel and relatively easy to do. Some air bags in the rear springs and this thing goes around corners like one of my Trans Ams. Lots more fun to drive, now to get the column shifter out and remove the last vestige of the grandpa like build I did on it.

Dude, you are to be commended. You took a rust bucket that most people would have RAN away from when they saw it and you saved it! And now you have one bad-a$$ bitchin' Pontiac musclecar. Beautiful job. Way to go!

15x8 rear 15x7 front. Can't get multiple back spacing on these wheels, this seems to fit the 65 no problem. Might be able to go a little wider, but a 275 would require rolling or cutting the fender lip.

Cooper Cobra 255 60 15 rear 215 65 15 front

Hecho en China, and other than the rather small lug nut holes they seem to be decent wheels. Kinda like the originals, one piece instead of rivets holding the steel rim on.

Around here finding 7/16 lugnuts that aren't 13/16 hex and don't have the cheap caps that fall off is not possible. Probably need to order some from Summit.
