The red corvette from the Elvis movie has the same identical chrome
Stingray shaped ornament on the side that is used on the 2015 Corvettes....looks identical in size and shape. |

This photo was not tagged, and I would like to know what they are.
I saved the photo off and tagged it as 1970 Ferrari 512S models. These are factory fresh, before the addition of wings, racing trim, etc. These are not 512 Spyder models from what I can tell. The shape of the side air intake ducts, the small scoops on the roof, and the smooth nose with center driving lights..... Awesome photo, regardless!

My cousin and I helped Mark unload his GP cat at Watkins Glen Grand Prix in 1967. That Javelin Alvin is probably one of the last cars he drove before he died in 72.
And I hauled a couple of those Monza Spyders out of the GM plant in Tarrytown, NY back in 1978.

This from "Bonjour!"
"The 1969 Wolverine 400 Trans-Am race at Michigan International Speedway. The race conditions were very wet and on lap 8 Austrian Horst Kwech lost control of his Mustang at 120mph, went through a fence and into a spectator area injuring 12 spectators, one fatally. Kwech holds the distinction of being the only driver to win a Trans-Am race in both the over and under two litre divisions." |

Jerry Titus RIP
"A very rare picture of Jerry Titus huge practice crash at Road America, Wisconsin in 1970. It appears that Jerry lost the steering on his Pontiac Firebird and crashed into a concrete bridge abutment at high speed causing huge damage to the car and a skull fracture and left arm injuries to Jerry. This article was from a contemporary magazine and gives a lot of info. Tragically it states that Titus was making a recovery but sadly he died just prior to its publication." |

"Walt Hansgen's huge practice crash at Le Mans on 7th April 1966 in the monsterous 7-litre Holman & Moody Ford GT40 Mk2 sportscar.
Walt lost it on a wet track crashing with a frighterning impact into the barrier as he tried to steer the car down an escape road. Walt raced pretty much everything during his career, finishing 5th at the US Grand Prix in 1964 in a Lotus. He won four SCCA Championships, raced in the Indy 500, finished on the podium in NASCAR and had much success in Sportcar racing." |

Trans Am crash 1969

I've been posting some Jerry Titus pics up our Facebook page recently, as well as some 1969 Trans Am Series shots.
The Titus/Godsall team raced 1968 Firebirds with Chevy 302 engines. The SCCA rules stated that the powerplant had to be a production engine available in that particular car, but Pontiac didn't have an engine that qualified in the 5 liter class. The T&G team argued that Canadian Firebirds used Chevy engines. While Canadian-built Pontiacs did in fact use Chevrolet engines, Pontiac didn't build Firebirds in Canada, and Firebirds never used a Chevy 302. The SCCA Trans Am Series was new, and they wanted to attract all manufacturers, so they were allowed to run. The media dubbed this the "sympathy rule", as everyone knew what was going on. Without official factory support, in 1969 the T&G team purchased six new 1969 Firebirds, and built them from the ground up for the Trans Am Series (three were sold to independents). T&G built theirs with the new Pontiac RAV 303 engines. They were a little down on power, but they had hopes for improving throughout the year. But the SCCA said that the RAV engines were not production engines. The rules stated that 1000 examples had to be in the hands of the public. So with the T&G 1969 Firebirds already built, and the RAV 303 not approved, they were facing a ban. T&G exercised a "grandfather clause" claiming that they were allowed to run 1968 Firebirds with the Chevy 302. Since the SCCA wanted Pontiac in the series, they allowed the team to go back to the 1968 models with Chevy 302's. Since T&G already built and tested their new 1969 Firebirds, they ended up grafting a 1968 nose onto their 1969's and calling them 1968's. Jerry Titus's 1969 Firebird, with a 1968 bumper. Notice the phony 1/4 louvers, and they even painted on the 1968 front parking light wraparound.

Jerry Titus getting some air.
When the T&G team were finally allowed to run the RAV 303, they were down on power, and the cause seemed to be in the RAV heads not achieving enough velocity. They used RAIV heads and gained back some power. The RAV heads were just a bit too much for a 303 displacement.
