That is so cool! I'm sure he will be grateful and I'll bet he can't wait.

Hi there, You have a great looking GTO. I also have a 66 GTO, Charcoal Blue, tri power turbo 400 trans. have a question for you...... I'm putting rally gauges in and will order a new repo dash bezel. I have a 4sp dash harness on the bench...and as you may know that harness will need some work in it to convert it to accommodate the auto trans and possibly other issues. Do you know what needs to be done and if it's worth modifying or should I just get a new harness? Appreciate any answers from all.

Sorry, I don't know what modifications are necessary. My car is all stock/original equipped so I didn't do any modifications. You might just want to start a new thread with your question and I am confident that someone on this forum will have answers.

Trunk pictures. The first picture during restoration shows the best detail. I think it was taken right after I applied the spackle paint.

It looks like yours has the grey and White spackle paint, is that right? Did you use the spray bombs or shoot it with a gun? Very nice job by the way! I have a small repair I need to do down by the driver side inner wheel well, but plan to paint it once the repair has been taken care of. Thanks for the help!

Used grey and white GM spray for the spatter paint. Used spray cans. It went on pretty well. Then put on a clear coat using a spray gun. The lower rear quarters were replaced on both sides.

[QUOTE=DSMTiger;5248997]Talked with the original owner. We are going to get together soon for him to see "his" car. He had some great stories about the years that he had the car.

I did something very similar earlier this year. Tracked down a man in my hometown that owned my GTO in the late 1970's, (I've owned it for 31 years now).
He and his wife were very happy to see it again, and gave me a few pictures of the car of when they owned it. Took the man for a quick drive, "just like I remembered it" he said grinning from ear to ear.
