Had not been on a while. LeMans has new Summit 2.25" dual exhaust and good shifting TH350 swapped plus put on a re calibrated Edelbrock 1411 750 on a modified 65 AFB intake along with Bosch Platinum plugs and new Coil running very well. Also KYB Gas-A-Just shocks and a 1.125" Z28 front sway bar with poly bushings and end links. Drive fantastic and took a camping trip in it and popped in to the TMCCC drag races Sunday and made 2 passes. Easing into it some of the line since its a open 2.56 and had to shift very low around 4000-4200 because its laying down around 4200-4300 I need to figure out if that is valve springs or weird ignition thing it runs great up to that point and stops pulling. It went a 15.9 and then a 15.8 with a lot more in it with just a Posi and punching it quicker and getting to hit 5k on the shifts down the road. I bought GM boxed lower rear arms and a 7/8" stock style rear bar also pending install.

That 15.8 shows that those 2 bbl heads can produce power, thats an amazing time for a heavy car with 2.56 gears, shows the importance of sufficient carburation and exhaust flow. I'd be curious what it would have run with the 2bbl, single exhaust and 2 speed auto?
A hint may be that many many years ago I put a stock 1969 350 2bbl, TH400, factory style 2" duals with AC, and power steering on a dyno and it produced 150 horses at the wheels. By comparison when we dropped in a 400 4bbl YS, bone stock GTO engine into the car (same exhaust, trans etc) it put 235 hp to the wheels. (neither was tuned in any sense, just decent running engines run as they ran).

Next summer I will run my 4dr LeMans just to see what it does: 350 2bbl, TH400, AC, steering and brakes. 2.56 STT with factory single exhaust. Being a 4 door hardtop it's 115 pounds heavier than a 2 door hardtop according to the 69 sales manual.

Congrats on a great find! I daily drove and bought and sold 64-72 LeMans from the late 80's to the late 90's, reserving my GTO's for nice days and date nights. Those cars were easy to come by then, but really difficult to find now for a decent price. I'd love to find one like yours now!
As has been pointed out, the 350 2V/disc brake/AC/2 speed combination is unusual. Of all the ones I owned, my favorite, and the one that stayed in the stable the longest, was a Limelight Green 69 350 2V, disc, AC, TH400 car. I dailyed it for several years, then passed to my oldest daughter, and then to her younger brother who finally crunched it as it was approaching 200k miles. Seeing yours brings back memories of back in the day. I'd love to find one like it, but when I look online, "classic car" dealers have most of them, and they are asking ridiculous money. Even back in the 80's-90's I knew that I was having an experience daily driving those cars that soon would soon fade away and become generally unavailable. I was too young and poor to drive them when they were new, but I'm glad I got the experience a couple of decades later before they nearly completely faded from the landscape. |

I miss my 68 Verdora Green, black top, black interior, AC, power everything 350 2V so much. Was just a classy car. Would get out of it's own way but that's about it ... but was so reliable, comfortable and decent looking with it's original deluxe wheel covers.
AND ... no guilt about driving it, buying whatever off the shelf parts to keep it running. A true "driver", warm in the winter, cool in the summer, no drama. Lately I feel like a GTO is too much responsibility for me I don't need a thoroughbred, I need a saddle horse. |

Got some little things fixed in last 24 hours. Re-Installed fuel tank with new sender and hoses fixing fuel gage finally. Replaced 18 T drive gear and swapped driven gear to fix speedometer after already doing a new cable. Fixed dash lights with new headlight switch. Got bulbs for the under dash courtesy lights going with Sylvania 89LL bulbs and a new 20A fuse. Found glove box light switch area was a previous short removed and not repairing at this time. Found a suitable replacement for electric trunk release button switch in glove box that needed replacing. A Dorman 85980 took care of that and the A90 option is back to business ! Also car has been converted to R134 adapter and I added some I had and used it yesterday it was sunny warm 74 degree day. AC works too!
