The 2019 Hellcat will be 717 HP.Hellcat Redeye will have 797 HP on pump gas premium.Unlike the Demon the Redeye version will not be a limited production run. They will build as many as they can sell.

They were known to be less than spectacular. That's like buying an Aerostar and painting everything with the blue oval as garbage because of your experience.

How is this even a comparison? There's a huge cost difference between them, and they're totally different cars. Any attempt at discussing the pros and cons of either one is irrelevant because they are so different.
That said, that generation is one of the ugliest, least inspiring Firebirds ever made in my opinion. More power than any of the third generation birds for sure, but uglier than all hell. I have a hard time understanding why anyone would seek one out as a toy, especially when considering the premium you'd have to pay to get one. The Hellcat isn't inspiring to me either in terms of appearance, but at least you can make videos of yourself going 198mph to go on facebook with that car. Can't do that with a fourth generation Firebird. I keep saying Firebird because I don't think a fourth generation Trans Am has much appeal or prestige over a regular Firebird in those years. Nothing like the prestige that a '69 Trans Am has over its lesser siblings. It's all just my opinion.. but if I was going to drop $100k on a car, it would go into building up a vintage Pontiac muscle car of some sort that would be other worldly cool in comparison, and would be an appreciating asset instead of a rapidly depreciating liability. But to each his own. |

I must have missed the part where the OP was considering one of those as a third option..

It really depends on your taste. If you are a speed junky, like me, and plan on hitting the dragstrip, a Hellcat or Demon is really the only way to go. But if you plan on buying one for cruise nights and the "look at me" factor with only hitting the track once in a blue moon, don't waste your money and save the hot rod for a buyer that will utilize it for what it was meant to be used for.

2) He currently owns a 2010 Challenger 3) if he was to buy the Hellcat, he'd sell his 2010 to offset the cost... There was no real comparison - they are naturally two very different cars. I think the 4th gen WS6 cars (all 30th anniversary cars were WS6) are great looking cars - although my bias leans towards the looks of a 1996-1997 Firehawk or WS6 carr, followed by a 99-02 Firehawk, followed by 98-02 WS6 car. I too love the Challenger. My daily driver is absolutely a compromise car - if I wasn't trying to be responsible, it would be a V8/6speed late model Challenger... I'm adding this picture incase anyone here is having a hard time creating a mental picture of a 30th Anniversary Trans Am

yes!! Thanks for the posted pics guys! I'm particular to the Plum Crazy Purple myself.
There was obviously not meant to be a comparison between the 2 but more just about 2 thoughts I have. I unlike fullsize have always loved the looks of 4th gens especially ramair cars and I think they knocked it out of the park with the Challenger design. As far as the 30th goes I have an old buddy that has one with the pacecar decals that has said he would only consider selling it to me, we haven't discussed price and details yet but even though my girls love it I think I prefer it without all the decals. Everything being equal between the two I would get the dodge, that is if I liked them. Its a new car compared to an old one that is prone to have some kind of problems. I have gone to the dark side and if I could afford modern muscle I would opt for a mustang super snake over a dodge any day.

I guess we're just lucky over here. Every year there is a huge (1200+ cars) car show by the lake and every year I go I have to put up with a conga line of 15 to 25 new Camaros and 15 to 25 new Mustangs. They come early and take the best parking. The freaking shoreline looks like a new car dealer's front row.

Yea.... I'm the same..... It may be a great car but I don't agree with putting new cars in a car show like that.

Now my nephew has a 2015 SRT green auto Challenger Quick, but very heavy car. Now I realize that it aint no Hellcat. , What would I do, you ask/ Go find a 99 30th, convertible. Its a very rare car, already appreciating. Consider it money in the bank. I bought a 2000 WS6 convert brand new, still own it with 11k miles. The 99 is the own I should have bought.
