All depends on the combination for sure. My 470/409 made the same with 1.7s as with 1.8s. Also no more with 750 cfm dual quads vs 600s.

My pump gas 455 in my 78 made more with every increase in ratio-Ultradyne 239.247 on a 112. About a 5 -8 hp bump 1.5-1.65 HS(actually with "real springs" measured 1.72) and then Crower 1.8s on the intake(the SS were too expensive for a full set. We did not make a real pull with the 1.33 break in rockers.

If your heads flow well at .600 lift or higher run a lobe in the 390 to 400 range with 1.65 rockers. My cam has a .391/.400 lobe lift with 1.65 HS rockers..zero issues.

One advantage of a higher ratio rocker seat time is the same but at the valve it acts like it has more @ 0.050 and since the lobe can be less aggressive easier on lifter.

Thanks, this is good insight as well.

My engine is coming out and getting disassembled this weekend. Still need to start making some purchases.
