I think just to be doing something, I'm going to fix my upper ram air pan. It's pretty rough so I'm going to see if i can make it pretty.

C'mon Baron. No comments on the Bypass 2 code and the delay in shipping vehicle?

Box 46 confirms your BO radiator. Funny thing is I don't "see" the Judge stripe colors nor the RAM AIR hood decal color.

it was tough enough just to find the radiator code !
Some people have asked about a bypass code like that on a couple/few before , Never known what to tell them. Is it strictly about a shipping conflict ? |

W65 is Cool = Special Paint No Charge
Don't really remember seeing that listed out on any other 70 OO before. And can't look back to double check any sheets. Did the TwoLaneBlackTop Judge from Fremont have that code listed like that ? |

From what I've been led to believe Bypass Code 2 means it was pulled from the line at some point.
Known TLB build sheet didn't have W65 listed. I believe the color was fairly new when this vehicle was made hence why no stripe colors were called out. Box 44 would list a stripe color after the J. And Box 99 would have a R-xx for RAM AIR and color. Box 101 is interesting too as it has HOOD and what looks like T-3 when most will have a --3 (RA. --1 is a std flat style hood and --2 is a GTO closed style hood).

Good point about OO being a fairly new release along that timespan.
I had practically forgotten it was a later introduction. |

Thanks guys. I would never have known any of this stuff. Super interesting! I love the stories a car can tell if you actually know what to look at!
How can you tell there was a delay in shipping? |

I'm also curious since mine is an early car, is there a registry somewhere of known 70 judges. I'd be interested to know if mine is one of the first handful, or if by November they already made a bunch. Of the OO judges that is. Since there was only 618 in total, i would think an early November car would have to be some of the first ones?

Buildsheet has a date of Nov 25 in upper left.
Invoice has a shipping date of Dec 8 That is about a 2 week span. I can't read the fine print on yours hardly at all , and can't reference other copies I have that are clearer. Sometimes the Bsheet date is just a projected date or preference date, sometimes it is the actual date it was built. I don't look into those matters very often. Sometimes its just not clear to me,, or too tangled The dates on them compared to invoices always seem more spread than what is usually called or thought "normal" from completion to shipping. But 2 weeks is a good spread. Yours needing to go from Cali to IL might be part of it. Its kind of weird to me it was built in Fremont anyway. Maybe we are back to the color question again. idunno A new 70 Judge registry was just started by Racer_X 070 www.gtojudgeregistry.com There are some older threads with in depth discussions about O.O. Factory bulletins with dates ,,,, etc etc Seems like it started rolling out around Mid-November , but that would need to be double checked for accuracy. I am just going by cobwebs - not sourcing actual facts at the moment. Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 01-18-2023 at 12:50 PM. |

If you want correct wheels you need JL code , or maybe no code at all.
The main point is you want Black center caps , due to that factoid. Unless you just want Red ones by desire. Carousel Red and OrbitO were "special paint" colors. We have a handful or so of other type special paint color 70 Judges documented. They didn't charge for that on their invoices because "special paint" was already factored into The Judge package. I am talking about cars that were not GTO colors, and not OO. So it was cool to see that W65 line on your Bsheet . |

I thought it was odd as well that it was a California car. Wondered why they wouldn't ship one from Pontiac instead.
Thanks for the tip on the wheels. I have a set of 14" rally 2 wheels in the shop now and i can't find a code anywhere on them. I also haven't looked to see where its supposed to be. If they are correct for my car, i will keep them and find another set for whatever these were slated for. |

Also i don't know why it looks so bad on here. The picture i took of the build sheet is crystal clear.

Wheel codes are stamped by the valve stem , with a date code.
The codes on inside of rim (tire removed) are not the same thing. The PY server compresses photos we load to conserve storage. The bigger the file the more it compresses them. Pictures under 500kb do best. Pictures over 500kb get wonkier and wonkier as the file size increases. |

You must have shared your trim tag info before as you are already in my database.

I think one member states he has/had a Nov. built one. Because Enduras came pre-painted may be a reason it was allocated for build at Fremont. And maybe something happened where it needed to be set aside for a short time. New color and little info on it could have been another excuse.

I may have shared it before. I was going to do the car a while back but lost my spot to work on it.

Ransom , this isn't a challenge , just an observation and food for thought.
These Bsheets were printed up BEFORE the cars went down the line - so how would they know ahead of time that something unforseen would happen to cause it to be pulled from the assembly line . So we can eliminate that variable. The notation is done in the original printing - not handwritten. If they knew ahead of time it would need to come out , seems like they would have just postponed the start-up until that conflict was adjusted. I think it applies to either - something small during the build phase that can be bypassed and finished later without pulling it from the line ... - or something after completion . Like maybe going to a bypass holding lot instead of staging for immediate shipping. 1 or 2 of the other examples I have it on were early 69 Pattern Judges. And we know they didn't go strait to dealers after completion. But have seen it pop up on at least 5 or 6 other cars that I can't remember what they were. I dont think they were all Judges. And it is coincidentally printed right above the shipping data. Not right under the build data. Can't scour my files to hunt for any to examine. But for sure one of the 69 Judge examples (Bsheet) was the Early Jan Automatic Pattern from Fremont. I'm not in position to make it a case study right now. But it has to be something they could already predict before the build started. |
