Will, thanks for the info. There's a place in Cal. called stockton wheel that will widen your wheels. FastTA & will, looks like the three of us are in the same game. Who ever buys first, please let us know what size works!

lol just bought some tires yesturday, but it will be a while until the rims. since the vipers are now coming out with 19's the 335/30/18's are half off. each 335 was $157 on sale. I just found out yesturday by the guy that is doing my tubbing that 6.5 in the front will work, but will rub the sway bar when you turn the steering wheel to the lock point, but for normal driving there will be no problem.

Tirerack.com is having a sell for $150.00 a tire plus shipping. the ones i bought are Michelin Pilot Sport 335/30/18.The 335's.cost $357 not on sale, so its a very good deal right now. Ebay also has some deals too.

Fast, give me the info on the rim size and backspacing these are going on. Are you modifying the rear to use this size? I'm getting nervous about ordering tires and wheels and the money is burning a hole in my pocket.

The size of the rims i'm using is 18x12.5 for the back. the back spacing is gonna be about 6 7/8. wont know it until its all done. the rims i want for the back cost kinda of alot for some people. 1,100 each , yup 1,100. i'm hoping later this year the rims will go down on price since everybody is moving to 19's. um to fit the 335's or 345's u have to mini tub.if u can weld and cut then it will be easy. there is different ways to go aout this. leaf springs or coil-overs. i'm doing the coil-overs to be able to have rear tips and use my stock gas tank.I'm trying to stay under 4 g's with all the mini tubbing. You can fit 315's in the back if you want to save money, but once u drive behind a viper and see those huge meats in the back,I know its worth the money to me. I'm no expert in mini tubbing, so what i'm telling you is from the guy tha is doing mine and people I talked too.

I found the solution! Company makes a wheel & tire simulator, the one used on Hot Rod TV. It's called Tire MountMate. It costs $425 plus shipping if you want one, but talked to the inventor and he gave me a list of tire shops that have this device in my area. Phone # is 251-377-6724. This will alow you to see exactly what will fit your car. I'm going to purchase my wheels and tires from a shop that has one of these.

While we're on the sybject what is the maximum backspacing I can use for 15 x 10" Centerlines on the rear of my T/A? Running M/T 11" Protracs. Like to tuck them in close as I can.

Here is a real world reply. I had 17x9's with 5.5" backspacing on my 75 TA. I had to pound in the bulge at the front of each wheel well. Even so, they still rubbed against the wheelwell, and the tailpipe. They are SOOO close to the springs it is scary. Ran 17x8's on the fromt with 4.5" of backspacing, no problems.

Right now, I have 15x9's on the rear with 5.5" backspacing, and 15x8's on the front with 4" backspacing. Rears still rub, fronts still fine.

In order to do anything more than this, you will have to move the springs inboard, and remove the bulge in the front of the wheel well. This bulge is for the retractor for the rear seat belts. You will either have to remove the retractor, or relocate it. If you use 9" wide or wider wheels with less than 5.5" backspacing, they will hit the lip on the quarterpanel, or stick out past the quarter panel. Hope this helps.

Fast, I'm hoping to fit these sizes:
Yokohama AGS
Front- 275-40 17” Tire 9.5” Rim @ 6.5” Backspace
Rear- 315-35 17” Tire 11” Rim @ 6.5" Backspace

Saw these sizes on a late model Camaro today and they sure looked cool!

Philcol..

I run 5.25" BS on my 15x10" rims..

5.5 was way to tight.. less than 1/8" between the tire and spring..

with 295-50-15's they only rubbed on hard turns and off camber such as going up a curb at an angle.

Here's a picture of the tire mounted with 5.25"

Thanks for the pic Scott. I measured some 15x8 snowflakes and they have 4.750 BS. My 15x10 centerlines are 1/8" more at 4.875 BS. I have to order some new rear wheels and needed to know how much more I could go in with the wheel. Looks like maybe 5.0 BS may be about it as I am running N50 M/T's that are almost 12' wide and 27 1/2" tall.
