Ram Air 3 pretender
Lets look at it this way; you order the car, as a L75 stick with the M-21 close box. You automatically get the 068 cam and springs, 60lbs oil pump, richer carb, unique distributor, and big gto exhaust. You check off the ram air box and poof! your a ram air 3 455! minus the exhaust manifolds! Then you add 3:55s -to the order form for your Mckinnon 12 bolt (Canadan built 12 bolt). Do not buy factory hi po exhaust manifolds for installation when the car arrives at the dealership. When it does arrive, pick it up and deliver it to your favorite dyno shop, I used Speedwin Automotive out in Long Island in the 1969-70s. Have them install a set of big tube (1.75 dia) Hooker or Super Comp headers, hipo distributor curve, richer jets and poly locks. Do about 500-1000 miles, then pull the heads, CC down to the NHRA mins, usually 65cc and do a 3-5 angle competition valve job, keep the valve seats wide so they last. This car will run away from any 400 ram air 3 stick/auto, give ram air 4s serious competiton in first and second and give the 396/440 clowns serious losses. 383/390 players
shouldn't even suit up-stay in the locker room. Historical note; the car that did this existed; special order, gold with white interior, no a/c, manual drum brakes, PS, no other power accesories, bench seat, ralley wheels. I drove it, it was a bear! |

I was VERY interested in this car when it was for sale by Marty in '06, did you purchase from him or another? I have ALOT of pics of it in original paint, not sure what you've done to it or what you know about it, please PM me if interested.

When the Ram Air option was fitted to a '70 455 GTO, I'm assuming the car still came with #64 heads. Is that correct?
