Cloth and filter could be impregnated. Keep us posted.

I went to the store to get a cabin filter. It said NA. Then I asked at the front counter and they looked at me like I was crazy. The Ranger has no cabin filter.

Oppps.

That will be more difficult to change.

I bought a car that had a rear seat that caught fire and had to be replaced. I tried everything, pulled the inside and steamed cleaned it, a lot of febreeze, oil of wintergreen under the seats, etc. It still had a faint smoke odor even after leaving it open for days with a fan in it. I saw a post on the internet about buying a box of dryer sheets and putting them in the car everywhere you can put one. I put them under the seats, in the glovebox, over the sunvisors, in the console, and all over the seats. I left them in there for a couple of days and removed them before a buyer came to look at it. I sold the car and he said it sure did smell good! I saw him light a cigarette up as he was leaving! It was probably all in vain.

coffee...will absorb odors. Put some dry granulated out of the can in a couple of open containers under the seat.
It also makes you want to stop by the local mickey Ds and get a cup on the go....

Paul,

I just redid a house that had some, how can I say this delicately....challenging cleaning issues.

This & a commercial haz mat cleaning crew did the trick.

You can do all manner of things...and they may/will help for a while but smoke gets everywhere. On everything. In the seats, behind the dash....everywhere. Until you clean behind the dash or get rid of the smoke soaked items the smell is going to come back to some extent the 1st time you leave it in the sun closed up.

I like this Chris. This unit seems to be awful big for a small pickup truck though.

Get it - you'll end up using it again in other places and it's not that big - about the size of an old metal lunch box.

You need to flood the space with the O3, the breakdown will take a little bit of time as the molecules attach. The warnings of electrical & plastics breaking down are after repeated prolonged use. I ran this one in a mechanical room for 48 hours straight and there was no damage to any equipment.

...and yes, the post you commented on was where I used it. It would shock you to see how that house was left!

I take it the previous owner gave the house back to the bank?

I used vinegar to remove the smoke smell from my 02 Chevy truck. Filled a glass lasagna pan with vinegar and set on console and rolled up the windows. Let set in sun for a few days to a week and smell disappeared. No residual smell of vinegar from what I remember. Maybe I aired it out a day or so. Cant really remember.

Wow. That thing is really cheap at $74. How big an area can you do with it? I have a house I just got with some pet odors, but one big contiguous space that I could not in any way close off.

How many square feet open are we talking about? Leave it in there for several days running continuously - it really doesn't hurt to try.

We have since refinished every single surface in the house but I ran it in there for the first two weeks to make it so the guys could stand going in there.

Yeah, that is what I am doing. My Malinois gets really freaked when he goes there b/c he knows you are not supposed to pee in the house. And, some other dog (Welsh Terriers suck) did. He will have to get over it when we move in.

I might be able to limit it to 700SF, but with an open balcony and double stairway leading into that to the upstairs that is impossible to block off… Plug it in and take a vacation might get it. Except I am bad at vacationing.

Just remember, you can't leave a pet in the house while it's running & you need to vent the house well before you let them in.

I set mine up with a lamp timer - it went on every day at 5:00pm, after everyone had left and it would run until 6:00 the next morning. Big open house here as well with 6355 finished sq ft and I would just move it from floor to floor & leave it in the biggest room. It made a huge difference but finally sanding & finishing the floors & painting the walls is what did it.
