Ain't that the truth!! I had mine out with the Crower cam. Now that I have an Old Faithful going in, I reinstalled my 6AL2.

chuckie76: just curious, did comp say 15/40 is too thick? in your post above you said youd probably run 10/40 oil... 15/40 & 10/40 are basically the same thickness/weight... i dont think a little extra on the cold number makes much difference...they are both 40 weight oils when warm. a good 10/30 oil should be fine for roller cam street/strip engines like these. especially if comp is saying a 40 weight is too thick for these lifters.
A year ago I ordered HRL from Johnson, and the tech recommended nothing heavier than a 10W-40.. He said 10w-30 was preferred.. I'm not really a fan of 10w-30 oil as it seems like water when hot.. I run 10w-40 amsoil in both engines and don't pound on them till the oil is up to temp..

In my diesel truck manual they call for 15w-40 oil. Actually it's preferred also.. I know it doesn't seem much difference between 10w-40 and 15w-40 but there quite different in operation..
Also, it seem the synthetic oils flow alot better than the dyno oils even at the same weights.. Just my opinion..
