We tried a Lab many years ago. If I had not had Border Collies prior to the Lab, I may have been impressed. After a few years he had to go. If you want a dog that acts deaf and will bark at the sun, moon, leaves on a tree and the wind, get a Lab. |

Awesome job on the adoption everybody should only adopt dogs from now on this puppy mill breeders all should be shut down. The puppy mills are the same as the zoos just like to go in that horrible Netflix documentary.
All you need to do is put a flat brim hat on his head so he can’t see out of his eyes, tell him to have an attitude and you can call him big chief. Lol I’m kidding maybe |

Our dog chased a skunk one time, got hit right in the face with spray, she learned to stay away from them from that experience. She was foaming at the mouth, eyes were hit too, she was in bad shape. She then she ran into the living room, and hid behind my chair.......
What a fiasco, emergency reading on the net says mouthwash neutralizes it. Grabbed a big bottle of mouthwash and put her in the tub, rinsing her with the mouthwash worked surprisingly well to neutralize the spray. It didn't get rid of all the smell immediately, but it sure did help. Within 2 days everything was back to normal, even the rug behind my chair got a dose of mouthwash. It wasn't good by any means, but the mouthwash does do a good job of getting the stench out in a short time, and most households have some handy so you don't have to run to the store. It was about 11 PM when it happened, and everything near us was already closed, would have had to run into a Walmart about 10 miles away. Fortunately we had purchased a 3 pack of the large bottles of mouthwash at Costco recently, so we dedicated a bottle to skunk juice neutralizing It was store brand, and I didn't like the strong taste anyway, thank god we had extra on hand. My wife just reminded me why we think she tried to attack a skunk. We have a cat that has some really strange markings on him, that the dog might have thought was our cat. My dog tries to herd cats (we have 3) and she might have mistaken the skunk, for one of our cats....no idea. Luckily the scenario has never repeated itself, but we still have a bottle or two of that terrible mouthwash on the shelf in case it happens again. Was about 3 years ago when this happened. |
