Car is 60 Ventura, auto trans unfortunately. My physical condition makes me very hesitant to crawl under the car in order to access the flywheel. That really messes me up these days.

What I do is back off 2 rocker arms on a cylinder so a valve isnt trying to open and bend I then insert a cotton rope into the sparkplug hole and proceed to torque the balancer bolt, I torque it to the top of my torque wrench range 150 then I use a breaker bar with a pipe on the handle and rotate the bolt a touch more, works fine

That has worked for many people over the years.

So when you use the rope in the cylinder trick in order to tighten the balancer bolt, do you pull all the plugs to eliminate cylinder compression on the other 7 cylinders?

I always did, and I used a fresh piece of cotton woven cord in the hole to lock the crank.
No ratty old jump rope for me, or Plastic POS. Tom V.
