So how long to machine. Can't wait to see a finished piece. And Tom 77 is great, I don't look 79 however I might feel it a bit.

That's a little Merry Christmas present to those of us anxiously waiting. So to understand completely, that top is a test casting made from the "production" tooling and "production patterns/cores?". Thanks again Tom.

John machined it from the program the billet top was made from and it fit the billet bottom perfect.I tried to post pics on the core box tooling and core boxes but could not get them to load.Should have a intake casting to machine around the 21st of this month.Tom

The first production top casting is off the 5 Axis, and fit check with the billet base made from the same database. It fits perfectly. Should have the first early style base casting shortly.

Question are what appear to be counter sunk cap screws just a function of checking the fit or is that the way production intakes will have the tops secured to the base? As I know you aware the real bathtub tops are secured with plain old hex head bolts.

Noticed that as well.

Not a feature I’d want on a reproduction of an old time factory speed part.

Bart, the intake we scanned had the counter sunk bolts so when it got scanned this is what we end up with.My Zajack-Johnson has the 1/4 bolts non sunk. These will be counter sunk and the change number will be dif.Early will be change 9 as I remember and the late will be change 10.Tom

I don't like it either but it is easy to fix just turn some aluminum sleeves down and insert them in the counter sunk holes and then run hex bolts through them. I want the intakes I ordered anyway.
