It would be an interesting experience to run a Ram Air II, a Ram Air IV and even a Ram Air III car together at the strip. All wearing the same rubber and using the same driver. Heck, through in a HO and base 350 horsepower car as well. I'd bet the ET's would be closer than initially imagined.

That's a big project. The seller is dreaming with that $15,100 opening price.

Ya maybe. He doesn't state anything about the amount of rust or what kind of matching number parts are there. But man, a black with red guts RAII GTO convertible!

To me it looks like R1 for Color on the PHS, and 54 for Trim.
That would mean Matador Red with Ivory/White top. Red bucket interior.
The floorboards and windshield pillars and trunk hinges look red.

No wheel option is listed on the PHS either, so that would mean dog dishes and whitewalls? And disc brakes and power steering and 8-track and rally gauges and cool options.

Neat car.

Body actually looks quite solid, a bit soft at the bottom of the quarters but obviously didn't do too many chicago winters. Big pile of money to make it right, funny that the dash isn't cracked! Wrong dash though, it's from an AC car.

I guess if it has its original engine it's final value will be much better so its current value will be better as well.

The car is just a simple RA III car & not a RA II, as the RA II would have to have been a 68. But still as mentioned it is a bit high for the car in that shape. Now If it were an original RA IV car & a vert, that would change the price a bit if the engine is original to the car & not cracked or blown up with the block damaged.

Rex, it's a nicely optioned RAIII convertible! Not "just a simple bla, bla, bla"

Now now, let's not beat up on Greg. His specialty is different than ours. There once was a time when the RAIII was considered second fiddle, but we've learned from our mistakes. While not the holy grail, it's practically the next best thing.

I figured any Ram Air car would get respect in this thread.

I think the statement above is where Rex's comment came from. It got my attention too until I re-read the title of the thread and realized that it was a simple typo.

I am a total jack ass! My apologies to Rex. Yes it was a typo on my part and I hadn't noticed till you pointed it out Greg, thank you.

It sure looks legit but it's way too early to be a 69 Ram air since the first ones were only built at the very end of calendar 1969. I think the earliest 69 WS engines are from December 68, this one is four months before that. It's also too late to be a 68 HO I think? maybe it was an unstamped SR block that was later stamped for service as a 69 WS?

Shouldn't the engine unit number have 7 digits if it's a 1969?

The face of the block looks like it could have been 'milled'?
(don't see the usual broach marks)

I do have a H218 WS and from Baltimore plant in my EUN database.

So might have not stamped 7 digits on the early engines.

Something must be wrong, the EUN and the Baltimore VIN jive with the casting date but no 366 horse cars were built before December. Perhaps it was a misstamp at the factory. A PHS would solve the mistory quickly!

I looked at my PHS listing and I don't have that VIN but close ones were shipped mid September from Baltimore.

The earliest 366 horse car I have was shipped from Baltimore in mid january (it wasn't a Judge). I have 327 RAIII PHS's both Judge and non Judge so I think that first one being in january is statistically relevant.

Just some more info:

My 1C Baltimore car's WS block is dated November 68 (K). The heads and intake are Oct (J)

I have heard of one of the December built cars having an October WS block but did not see it with my eyes.
