Before I retired I managed the restoration of two WWII era trolley cars. Also known as PCC cars.
From rusted out hulks my crew and I restored these cars to fully operating vehicles in the San Diego transit system operating alongside newer Siemens transit vehicles.

Lee - That's lower Cook Lake. We went in at the Elkhart trailhead out of Pinedale and did a big loop. We went past Island Lake and Titcomb basin then headed South cross-country from there but we ended up getting chased out two days early by snowy weather. Just narrowly avoided getting trapped up near the crest by the snow.

I like to avoid crowds and Cirque of the Towers is one of the most crowded places in the whole area. Thing is, with all the bad smoke covering everything in the West last year, the Winds were one of the places where the smoke wasn't too bad and everyone was heading there. There were people everywhere and we ran into two different parties from the Seattle area, so the word was out.

Hikin Mike - nice work on that Barn Owl! I now have pics of Snowy Owls, Short Eared Owls, and Great Horned Owls. Would sure like to get a Barn Owl, they are really cool looking birds.

Two interesting ones u don’t see everyday.

First is a square watermelon I saw in shop window while in japan.

The second is a sea iguana at a park near my moms house in Miami.

Halfway, that's a neat picture of your mother and uncle in the Corvette. FWIW, based on the combination of wheel covers and rear body shape it appears to be a '59 or '60.

Thanks for the info, not a Vette guy so I was going by my mother's recollection. Supposedly he had to sell it due to tickets and high insurance. He went into the Air Force a short time after this picture was taken. All through his life he had nice things, he had his shirts custom made and special ordered cars. He never had children so that's how he splurged.

I'm into early Vettes, so I threw that out in case it helps you date the photo. Sounds like your uncle was a true "Ladies Man"! I had an uncle who was a bit flashy in the early 60's. He drove a spotless black '56 Caddy convertible, white top with red interior.

My active duty Indiana Air National Guard son was doing two weeks of winter training at McDill AFB in Tampa in February, good view of downtown across the bay, I visited him and my brother down in Englewood.
