Yes, title to pic was “JFK”.

As I post pics, I’m never sure if they were posted already but with so many posts, it’s hard to remember what I’ve seen here.
As long as someone enjoys them......

Default The ARCH

Have only seen it once but it’s pretty cool. Did not go up inside, just the museum in the bottom.

Went up in it once while in town for a work thing some years ago. If you're claustrophobic, you might not like it! You get into these little round "capsules" behind the doors on the steps, and go to the top, and as they're ascending, they index mechanically to keep them level! You get to peek out of the little window and see the superstructure inside the thing.
Once on top, it's a small space with rectangular windows that you can peer out of. Supposedly 636' high by 636' wide at the base.

I know that car. It is in my collection! Am hoping to finish the restoration up this year and display her at Pontiac Heaven weekend Oct 30-Nov 1 near Phoenix, Az.

Yes, have the actual car and it is turning out nice. I can't wait to fire her up on a nice load of nitromethane. This car will be part of the Pontiac Heaven Museum project here in Az.
More pics of this car-

I am also a fan of a Straus Astre. It is my favorite unblown Pontiac race car of all time.
Earlier this year, I did some homework and was actually able to contact him! I have been in touch with Bert and his son ( most computer savvy ) and they were thrilled that I am a fan of his and his efforts. They have been answering questions I have had about the build, the car and when it ran, etc.
I will be posting the stuff on my FB page.
Here are some more pics.
The Astre has 2 'versions' this is the original one. It started with a 4 speed and soon switched to a Lenco once they were available.

Oh, there were 2 magazine articles on this very impressive Poncho race car.

This is the 2nd version of the car with 74-5 front end and different paint. One cannot overstate this Pontiac powered Pro Stock effort among the super high dollor, experienced professions teams like - the Gliddens, Jenkins, Sox and Martins, etc, etc, etc
I have the highest respect for this team.

Here are some photos of the local drag racing in my neighborhood Lawrenceville in Pittsburgh in 1962.. Sears lot was better then the tracks, it was 1/2 mile long and smooth as glass..

The police used to come down and race on these motor cycles then bum a beer and go back on duty.. The world was such a different place back then... I miss old Pittsburgh..
