Give it a try, there might be slightly more to it than that.

Just so you know, I'm not trying to diss your work, Craig, just going by what it looks like in the pic. I just ordered one and do have access to a machine shop, so I think I will.
As a side note: Does everyone else show a forum database error when they post? |

Will be interesting to see what you come up with. Which cap did you order #1 or#2 as their construction is different? Harold you always have a way with words.

RC 15 Caps
Thank you Norwood for your meticulous efforts to bring us as close to original parts as you can. Let us know when they are available for purchase. I'll need 3 RC15's for my '72s.
You're the man Craig! |

I'll answer that the '73-6 used the RC 33 cap. No ears, so easy to see the difference.

Harold you won't be drilling that onE that is design #1. I like that cap better but I think that it's graphics are earlier than the Goodmark cap

Craig, isn't that the one that you show you drilled? When you say earlier graphic, what year(s) are we talking? I noticed the distance from the arrows to the impression is different.

Okay, so, why not be indenting the rivet?

How about this ....the 2 repop caps are not of the same construction. Let's see what you come up with for the one you bought. Post it up after you do whatever you are going to do

Brake and clutch rivet.
Kinda looks like a brass brake or clutch rivet on the early ones. Then GM or whom ever switched to a metal piercing solid rivet for ease of assembly and speed on the later ones.
Surprising how the re-pops just cant get enuff brain power together to make it exactly like the original. Looks like they just need the right set-up and proper rivet. Norwood, I don't think FShaker is trying to marginalize your work. Looks like you used a brake/clutch rivet as a replacement on the first one that looks more correct. Nice work

Skunk... exactly. Craig hasn't stated what he's done. In the pic it looks like he drilled the divot, that's why I keep going there. Now it's mentioned that a rivet was used. It always comes down to proper communication. Email and texting just doesn't quite substitute for face to face or telephone conversations.
