If its a 76 LE I really can see them gaining value. Even more so if its one of the 319 made as an LE 455 4speed hardtop.

It could be the angle of the picture making the car look like its sitting taller than it really is. Do you have any other exterior shots? Looking at the picture posted... the car appears to be sitting taller than most Trans Ams of that vintage(hence the flood water comment...).. Maybe we are all just used to seeing them with wore out saggy springs. I wish the twin I had was that nice...

Hi, I am probably not going to post anything about this car on this site..

In 2009 I picked up a decent '81 305 4 speed WS6 T-Top car with original paint. The paint was faded and the cloth seats were starting to shred... car ran and drove excellent with 115k original miles... I paid $1,600

In 2009.. I spotted a '78 on craigslist sporting a cherry set of Honeycombs (I wanted the wheels for my '76). I drove 2 hours pulling my car trailer to go get the car. Turned out the wheels were 14's . The car was a mayan red 4 speed no A/C hardtop.. with a '75 400 under the hood.. The car ran and drove...and after a little tuning ran pretty good... I paid $1,000 and drug it home.

I could go on... But those are the most recent "cheap deals"...

It seems like the deals above have since dried up in the last couple of years...... both cars are long gone...

I dont blame you. Most of those cars were driven hard, very hard and put away wet. I can't find them like that up here.

Not so fast Mike....

The Gold Car definitely has the original springs as the rears still have the original part number stencil and the fronts still had the factory pull tags. I'm not sure it sits a lot different than Roundports.

This is a video link.

BTW - we need more burnouts.

Now, back to topic...

I tend to agree that the prices are moving, but I think it has been mainly for the later era second gen's and the super nice 70 to 73 TA's and Formulas. We've all seen a lot of early TA's and Formulas languish on ebay and other sites without a serious bid, even some pretty nice ones like NJSteve's old car, and there are still bargains to be had like the car Dennis just bought. It seems like offer prices have moved up, but I'm not sure that the bids have moved as much. Here's a couple of interesting graphs from Hagerty.

Default thanks Bob

I know, the spring, from guy told me , we're original. .
I agree on trend, I think, the 71,2 ho cars, are underpriced.
No offense to bandit cars, I am partial to HO, with lo production and HP

Let me rephrase then.
Many did not survive lead foot drop the clutch slobs like me. Once they got rusty they were thrown away. I used to see running, drivers in the auto wreckers that I would love to own now. Not long ago you could find a inexpencive low mileage great shape 77-78 TA.

This price trend has been going up slowly for a long time. It appears the supply demand ratio has hit critical mass with certain models. It's hard to believe it because they made so many.

Now, they have become investments. The w72 4 speed and SE models that used to be everywhere appear to be eclipsing nice non ram air GTO's, first gen firebirds, early formulas. Popular then popular now.

Roundportponchos
I like your car as well. I wish I had bought one in that shape when they were affordable.

I don't know Eric, even within that model there are peaks - try and find a driver Lucy Blue 4-speed for less than 50K these days...

This is the only one I've ever observed doing close to six figures but it obviously has a significant history.

There was one at Mecum In Schumburg that went for around 70,000. I went to look at it and just could not believe the hardware store fastners all over it. It sold not because of the quality but simy because it was a Bandit and someone wanted it.
