That's a pretty cool rig with the early nailhead Buick in it.
They could have really F'd it up by putting a 307 out of a '72 Chevelle in it.
Nothing wrong with a 307...

The Chevy 307 V-8 has a displacement of 5.0 liters, or 307 cubic inches. The engine uses a bore and stroke of 3.875 inches by 3.25 inches.

now a 305 on the other hand...

The 305 uses a tiny 3.736-inch bore and the same 3.48-inch stroke as the 350ci motor.

I had a 1970 Nova with a 305 2bbl, nice engine ... and no exaggeration I could balance a nickle on edge on the air cleaner. It was a great daily grocery getter.

They must have been smoking some pretty good stuff back in that shop class in '72. There is absolutely zero side visibility from the drivers 'chair' out of the passenger's side of that thing. I guess you can open the door...lol

Those hybrids are more common than you would think. Now, if I could only find one with a Pontiac nose, WOW, what a Norwalk parts hauler.

When I was in my early teens (early 1970's), there was a guy named Mike who lived two houses away who had a 62 Bonny convertible. He had just rebuilt the engine when someone rear-ended him in the left rear while he was sitting at a stoplight. The whole left rear corner of the car was turned upward. I don't think the guy who hit him had any insurance. Mike mounted a trailer light on the left rear and drove the car like that for a long time. Eventually he bought a 67 Cadillac convertible to replace the Bonny. About that time he owned a Janitorial business, so he cut the rear end off the Bonny and built a wooden shell onto the back and used the car for his business. It was really roomy inside. He used it like that for a long time. Years later, when I was heavy into cars, I was walking through a Pick N Pull yard and I saw the Bonny sitting in the yard. Mike got many years of use out of that car after the accident.

Since they were front wheel drive, Toronados made pretty good sense as a camper conversion. Just one step removed from the GMC motor homes that used the same drivetrain.

All of those look fine to me, for what they are. The problem with the Buick is that the windshield is right up against the camper. How the heck do you see out of that thing? Even the VW in your example has some windows cut into the camper so you can see right/left.
