Default My New 24 x 24

A little (by comparison to the garages in this thread) 24 x 24 I just had done. Nothing fancy, but spacious enough for my 2 Hurst Grand Prixs.....and the pine tree that decided to fall onto it 6 months after completion.

At least the tree hit the strongest point of the roof framing. The damage doesn't look just too bad. I think you got lucky.

The garage looks great. It doesn't have to be any more than that to be usefull and enjoyed. If you are out of the weather and have room to work you are in good shape.

FH, I was at work in Sarasota when my son called and told me that the tree I had thought about taking down for the last 2 years came down in a severe wind storm. The pit in my stomach was painful and I had to drive an hour north in anticipation of seeing how bad it was. You're right about the tree hitting the strongest point, and yes, very lucky. The garage did very well and that was not a small tree. Repairs were about $500 for some framing, some shingles, and the fascia.

Nice pair you got there. (Hmm, that didn't sound right)

Wow and it was a pine tree too! I would at least think an oak would have gone first.

Default Pine vs Garage

The oaks in my yard tend to be healthy and sturdy, and they generally have deeper roots. The pines in my area come down very easily in wind storms, even when they're healthy.

This pine that came down was a monster and easily one of the tallest trees in our yard. A testament to how well built the garage is...

Glad to see this thread bumped.

J, you better get that snow off the roof of your `burban next time or Suffolk Hwy Patrol will give you a ticket!

Nice place, BTW. is it heated?

Yes radiant heat in the floor, 13' ceiling height. Wish it was not attached to the house though. Sometimes when I paint it stinks the Den out!

Oh my! Excuse me, I have to sit down a moment.

Wow, that's nice! Post a Google Earth shot or something. I've love to see the property. Where does the walk lead to?

And who's playing basketball near that beautiful garage and its contents? They should go play in the fields or something.

The Pontiacs should be next to each other, and the Corvettes next to each other!

I was thinking the same thing! Who knows, maybe those two corvettes being next to each other will lead to little Opels or something
