It may have some Lemans parts...but with a 242 VIN it has to be a GTO.

Does anybody know if the 2-barrel carb. GTO's got the two speed ST-300 also? I would love to have this car BTW, my first GTO was a 68' Ragtop, chrome front bumper 4-speed car.

Always hard to tell from photos, but that '74 Firebird looks like it has a solid body - for the right price it could be a good project car.

I know I'm late to this but was just wondering...what is everyone seeing on that '68 that indicates that it does not have a TH-400? Just because it's a column shift car? I've seen several column shift GTOs and Firebirds over the years. If you ordered an automatic with buckets and without the console, that's what you got.

The ad has since been edited. Earlier, there was a pic where you could clearly see the column position indicator (it's gone now). And a full shot of a door panel, where you could see the lack of GTO door badges (that too is gone now).

Unfortunately, a vin tag doesn't mean it was born that way. Could be legit, or it could be a legal nightmare. After two red flags are quietly swept under the carpet, I'd insist on seeing the secondary VIN before closing. Caveat Emptor.
