Many is probably correct, but I wouldn't say most.

Maybe correct, I was overselling for sure. But I do think "most" if they had a straight 6 Nova or tri five would have a v8 swap on their minds. I doubt 51% of hot rod owners would be completely happy with the 6.

I could not agree more with you. Far, far too many perfectly serviceable and good 4 door cars have been sacrificed to create yet another 2 door car.

These days, go to any car show and see rows of 2 door cars and there might be one or two 4 doors in the line yet they are the cars most people grew up with so they garner more attention. Like wagons. Wagons were something you used, got rid of it and moved on to the next car. They virtually disappeared so now when we do see one, we look at it with interest.

Every car show has rows of Mustangs, Corvette's, Camaro's, Trans Ams, GTO's etc. Who (apart from the owners), is much interested in them? They are like buttholes - everyone seems to have one.

Own a car with huge power, garish paint, crazy wheels and how long does the owner actually keep it? Or how often do they drive it? Boils on hot day, Can't drive it if there is any chance of rain, Dusty roads? NEVER. There's no long term pleasure in owning a car like that so it gets flicked and the next owner goes through the same. Flick it again.

It's the different cars which will win in the end. You can always find an interested person or a buyer for a different car and a good original different car more so.

So given a choice of a 4 dr car with a 6 popper or a 2 dr with a V8 you would take the 4 dr 6 popper? Ever try to sell a good running 6 cylinder engine? I have, got a whole $150. for it! lol

I've noticed that so many people seem to reference 'how much attention' a particular car will get compared to some other car. I've never in my life bought a car based on how much attention I think it will get. I get the cars I like just because I like them.
If I bought that Ventura and I really found that I enjoyed it with the six, I'd keep it like that...otherwise, and most likely, it's getting the V8..

Sure, many of us had the 4 door under powered cars when we were younger. But, what we really wanted was the 2 door hardtop or 'vert with the top of the line motor. We had to settle for the cheaper ride for economic reasons. And today, if looking at two very similar vehicles (make, model, mileage and condition) one being a 4 door sedan and the other a hard top or convertible which one would sell faster.

My first car was a '63 Dodge Dart 4 door with the 170? cu in slant 6. Drove it to college, etc. Swapped in a 225 so it could get out of it's own way. Eventually I wanted a '65 Dodge Dart GT vert with the 273 V8 and manual trans. Found a '67 Lemans Sprint HT, parchment interior, 3 speed Hurst, etc. and the rest is history.

Still have a soft spot for a '65 Dart GT tho....

You gotta be kidding me. Those rusty bolts scare me.

I'm a little concerned about the no title thing. Price is realistic though.

If it sat since 1996 (the date on the inspection sticker) the engine could have seized.

Good catch with the spare tire. Of course anything is possible. But even if it has been sitting locked-up since 1996, few people would buy a new car with a base 6-cylinder and drive it for 32 years, 750 miles a year. Thank goodness for 999,999.0 odometers today.

That spare is obviously a radial.
I'll be the devil's advocate here.
Whose to say they didn't just throw a used radial on the spare rim, to 'comply' when a set of new radials became necessary to replace the ancient original bias-ply tires. It wasn't unusual for bias tires to be used up by 20,000 miles either.

Also, just do some ownership history to find out if it's been an east coast car all it's life. It wouldn't likely be as clean as it looks w/ 124K, unless it was in a garage in Florida or something.

The odometer digit alignment isn't 'skewed' as a typical rolled over unit often does. Even so, The odometer 'reading' isn't meant to be a claim of actual miles. The seller probably knows it's buyer beware, and might even disclose that it's actually rolled over if someone asks.

The engine has also been painted, look at the water temp gauge. Still if price is neg seems like a good buy.
