Nice, I see you have a mini-split system. Those are great for keep a shop warm and cool. I put two in my garage and love them.

I love my garage little over a year old now, mini split heat/AC is great except when it gets real cold.

I installed two 32K BTU units in my 4,000 sf garage this past summer and love them. Its surprising how much air they put out and how efficient they are.
I keep it at 73 degrees and the Mitsubishi units have no problem. The best part is how much moisture it takes out of the air. |

WOWOWOW!
I need more pics of this. I'm curious as to why all the access doors on the left side. I'd love to see more pics zoomed out. Is that a residential residence? And I haven't even started to comment on the contents of the garage! wow EDIT: I just saw the entire album. Nicely done. What state are you in that your building codes allow for that kind of wonderful garage space? In metro NY, there is NO way!

I live in a suburb of Houston- our HOA only allows 4 garage doors and it had to look like it was originally built that way. It started as a 3 car garage on a pie shaped lot which gave us the opportunity to expand.
Originally the doors on the side were to a carport but it has since been enclosed. Now it has sliding barn doors on the side and a large swing out door in the back. The roll up doors were all for air flow because it gets so hot and humid here. Here is a pic of the house and garage together: |

I'm curious, how many of you have an overhead hoist/i-beam hoist in your garage. My garage (30'x40'x12') is in its architectural stages. Just trying to cover, or think of everything. Hopfully breaking ground in another month

Check out garagejournal.com they will have a few threads on it. The ones that slide on rails are pretty expensive for how often I thought I would use it. I went with a fold up engine hoist I can stash in the corner.

Eventually - with trolley hoist on it.

My plans called for an overhead crane or forklift. I decided on the forklift, but still installed a trolley and likely a second on the way.

What are you guys doing for music in your shop? Right now I am using a small blue tooth speaker that gives moderate sound but nothing too loud.
I would like to find an old Marshall amp stack cause I think it would look cool and fit my theme, but then again you need to have room for it. The garage is out of room- I have two cars at the shop and room for one at home. I thought about trying to expand or put another lift in but it's too damn hard to move the cars around now and I don't think adding to it will help. |

Although a trolley w/hoist would be cool just more to think about |

Another advantage of a 4-post lift in your garage is that it can be used to get stuff out of the back of your pickup truck. I have laid a plywood deck over the runways and rolled refrigerators from the pick bed to the hoist, once on there, lowered it to the ground and rolled it off the lift. I have also used the 4 post lift as a hoist by laying a wood beam across the runways with a chain hanging down. Works great and avoids placing a load on your rafters.
