Pistons!
My pistons finally came in from Butler. Heat barrier top coating and anti-friction skirt coating. LS ring pack (1.2mm,1.2mm,3.0mm)With the 94cc Edelbrock heads that SD Performance is doing for me ( 325 cfm with 5/16” stem Manley 2.180” intake valve and a custom 11/32” stem Manley tuliped 1.740” exhaust valve along with small dia. dual valve springs to further reduce weight and T-washers installed) and .056 Cometic (Luhn) head gaskets we'll be right around 9.15:1 - 9.20:1 compression. Rotating assembly went off to the machine shop for balancing today.

More body panel tweeking and setting up rear wheels and tires for flange to flange measurement so we can calculate the Fab 9" housing dimensions. Thanks to Ray Cox for the awesome wheels! Picking up the rotating assembly in the morning. I'll post shortblock assembly pics over the next couple of days. Stay tuned.

Decided to take a break from the car and assemble the short block. Crower billet 4.25 stroke fully couterweighted crankshaft, Oliver 6.800 rods with ARP 2000 bolts and of course Ross Custom turbo pistons. 4.157 bore, 1.2 mm top, 1.2 mm second and 3.0 mm oil ring set. First step was filing ring gaps. .032 top and second for medium boost. Used a BOP one piece rear main seal. The camshaft in the block was just for checking fitment after slamming in the cam bearings. I'm working with Herb from Luhn Performance on a LS firing order hydraulic roller for this motor. The Edelbrock heads should be ready in the next few weeks from SD Performance. So we'll pick up then on engine final assembly.

Started work on the tubular core support. First step was to install the original core support and align fenders to the doors and nose. Then Nick built a quick and dirty support structure to hold the fenders in alignment while removing the factory support. Then he started on tubular supports for the fenders. More to come.

Busy week. Nick built the Fab 9" housing from a Vanishing Point Race Cars Kit.(http://www.vp-racecars.com/index.html) It all starts with measuring for housing width, cutting axle tubes to rough length then trimming to final length on the lathe. Then Nick starts on housing fabrication using our homemade jig and a scrap center section. Before the back brace and housing ends are welded on the housing is welded to a beam to help avoid distortion. This whole process took several days as you have to weld and cool many times as you go. We're only allowed 5 pics per post so I'm going to make the next several posts just pics. Also included will be pics of the twin turbo "hot side" mock up.

Hot side
Hot side fab begins with finding a location for the VS Racing 78/76 T4 turbos. Nick found some awesome turbo mounts from Maven Performance and welded them to our core support "in progress". Then he had to lengthen the driver's side log manifold to protrude through the motor plate like the passenger side log. Then proceeded to run 2.5" stainless to the turbos from there.

Next will be rear shock x-member and final cage fab, wastegate mounting and plumbing then cold side fabrication. We are goint to use 2 inline tank style air to water intercoolers before the merge into the throttle body. Stay tuned!

Could you post up a few more detailed pictures of how you will have the oil drains for the turbos plumbed?
