You'll never regret keeping it the original color. I love that Turquoise. My 67 was Gulf Turquoise and I intend to return it to that when it gets paint. There are soooooo many red cars around at the shows that I don't even look at them. I would stare at and take a dozen pics of yours.......stunning.......

Stock color rules.........

The latest speedbump is that the commonly available flocked window channels ("W" shape) are shaped a little different and they are thicker than the oem stuf , hanging up the window glass in the lined channels . I purchased my channel pieces from Legendary and after researching the fitment problem I ended up @ Restoration Specialities who list special part #s for the Sports Coupe/Sedan. I received them today and they are definitely different than the Legendary items.Tomorrow I will test them in the car when I go for my daily visit to the body shop. So close, and yet so far away . Les

So should we expect to see your car at the 2011 racing season and not the 2010?

Back on the job........
Made some progress during the holidays: re-fitted the hood following a respray due to color mismatch, installed the window glass channels & fuzzies, installed fabricated drains in the bottom corners of the rear windows (got the idea from earlier Ponchos), installed new grills ., adjusted rear bumper gaps, and cold bent the steering crosslink for additional clearance under the pan.
GOOD NEWS, flat bedding the Goat home tomorrow . Les

It's home @ last.........
True to his word, my painter had the GTO polished & detailed today, and AAA provided the ride home . It sure looks sweeet, parked in the top secret Wheelspin "skunkworks" garage, awaiting completion .
The tint now has to go, it's going to obstruct the views of my new Legendary interior . I installed it back in the cross-country traveling days when we drove the GTO to Denver and Columbus OH for the GTOAA Nationals during the July heat. Since I am now tapped, I plan to shine up the Americans until I can afford some Daisys . Les

Hi Don,
Let me see if I can get you a decent pic tomorrow. I used a couple of 3-4" long sections of 3/16" steel brake tubing, single flared one end of the tubing to create a funnel and then I epoxied them into the rr window lower channel about 1 1/2" inboard of the bottom corners on each side, and [I]hidden[I] under the window moulding. These locations appear to be the lowest spots in the channel that tend to collect standing water and create the rust pinholing in this panel. Tomorrow I plan to drill a couple of holes in the rr wheeltubs and route some 3/16" tubing from my drain tubes and into the holes, securing the tubing w/ a little RTV. Les

Les,
Please do make pics if you will. I am going to do this week exactly what you did. I am remaking drains as I have replaced the rear window panel and doglegs about 2 weeks ago. Thanks in advance and boy does that car look sweet! Don't we all get "tapped out" by this stage. Charles |

Rear window drains......
Don & Charles,
Unfortunately, I couldn't get a pic from the top since the moulding is in the way and there's no way that I am going to revisit that installation hassle . I took a few shots from below that illustrate how I used about 12" of 5/16" brake line tubing slightly bent to reach the top area of the wheeltubs, and supported by a couple of hangers made from old coat hangers. I think that I wiill use a couple of old Schrader valves w/o the valve cores bolted into the wheeltubs as nipples, and then use some 5/16" vacuum hose to connect the drain tubes to the Schrader valves . None of the dimensions are critical since the goal is to simply drain the accumulated water from the low spots in the corners of the rear window gutter, so use whatever you have laying around the garage to fab up your drains. Les
