I haven't seen it and probably wont. Its coming from a reliable, trusted parts source here on PY and Ill just have him ship it directly to the company that will rebuild it.

So, if a 1964 unit will work, what model year/ engine size pumps will work for my 1967 326 application? Maybe I can start hunting around for a pump or at least a CORRECT impeller.

Check the stamping for the part number. Then see if its the correct one for that motor. I dont have that info but Im sure someone here does. If you're not concerned about dates, those pumps were used in multiple years.

The 8 bolt pump is for a 67 326. 69 was the year they went to the 11 bolt pumps.

I called a few companies that rebuild water pumps. This place REALLY new their stuff and more importantly, new the challenge we have with Pontiacs and the impeller. Its like he explained this thread to me all over again.
http://www.fdrbp.com/ $95 plus shipping back to you. Takes 3 - 5 days. He also mentioned that the impeller breaks from time to time. The have exact replacement impellers. Im going this route and I know Ill have a good pump. |

I will. They blast the pump, prime it and paint it. I won't have them paint it but he said it will be anew piece when it's done.

At $95 you can't beat that. If you go to the auto parts store you get the wrong one for half the price.

True.... you got me on that one Paul. But we're trying to alleviate the 'wrong one' problem.

We just might have done that Gary. Get a used core and rebuild it. Guaranteed results.

Couldn't bring myself to turn it in for a core price. I hung it on the wall so that every time I look at it I can remember how dumb I was to put that POS in without thinking and fought overheating troubles for 15 years!!!! People around here are STILL talking about that sonic boom sound the day my head came unstuck from my ass! Charles |

So that's what that sound was! We heard it up here near the Windy City.

Found an original rebuilt unit on eBay. Had casting numbers on it and everything. Can be yours for the low low price of $289.00. Impeller looked correct.
If you can find someone to rebuild these for you at a reasonable price and find cores, you may have a new business venture. Seems as though there is a need. My blue 66 was notorious for getting way too hot. Now I know why. Went through two pumps in ten years to boot! |

Oh I have a used core but not the money right now. LOL All the core needs is the correct impeller and it's good to go.

My CORRECT divider plates arrived the other day from ILT.
On the package it says it's galvanized and zinc plated. Does this mean I can forgo the green primer? Also, any update on the New Cardone part number? I'm going to try and buy one with the new number instead of testing all the local inventory of the parts stores near me. From most recent posts, it looks like the older units might be a bit pricey. |
