Just got my car back from the trim shop.
I had the headliner done and the vinyl top done. Came out really great. The trim shop was recommended to me by a friend and as soon as I saw his shop and previous work I knew he was a true craftsman. Shop is spotless and his work was perfect. This was also the first time the car moved out of the garage on its own power. It started and I actually drove it. Its very tight, no rattles or vibrations. It feels like a new car. I have the date coded glass on its way and waiting to complete the next phase. -Dominic |

Glass came in yesterday.
I bought it directly from LOF and paid extra for the original date coded logos. Bad news is my glass guy is on vacation for 2 weeks. |

I thought my engine builder took long. I waited almost 2 years to get my engine back but I think your painter has him beat.
Is your paint shop a bonafide business? |

Don,
I bought the Glass directly from Pilkington. Pilkington bought Libbey Owens Ford Glass (LOF) in 1986. LOF made the glass for GM until they sold the name to Pilkington, a UK company. They have a classic glass division with all the original templates and they can still etch the original logos and dates codes which I got done too. Here is the link http://www.pilkington.com/north-amer...s/default1.htm |

Yes, he owns a certified business but he is also a friend and that is where it gets sticky. I trust him but I want my car even if I can't completely finish it right now.

Beautiful silver 67's you guys are building. It's great having so much input and help from different 67 owners going through the restoration process. I don't mean to get off topic here, but something caught my attention. I read through the years-old topic link that Charles provided above and saw my post and the one from GTOGreg. According to our numbers, Greg and I have cars that were built within hours or maybe even minutes of each other, both from the Baltimore plant. For those keeping track, both originally came with black fillers/fender extensions. |

There are examples of the fender extentions and being painted body color and black to match the grille surrounds.
One thing about GM was there was never certain things carved in stone and it varies from plant to plant. I have owned my car since 1982 and had the original paint on the car and the fender extentions were the body color. My car was built in Framingham MA. I plan on getting my car judged at the GTOAA when its finished so I am curious howthe score points on that issue. I also agree that this is a great site to exchange info. |

Update
Glass is getting installed early next week.
I should have all my trim back from my plating shop this Saturday. I am having all the aluminum and stainless trim buffed and polished. Just ordered the interior too and went with Legendary over PUI. I hope to make some serious progress in the next 2 weeks. |

Yes, the firewall should have color of the car overspray on it. When I began restoring my car I didnt plan on have it judged at the concours level so I taped off the firewall. I am curious to see how many points I lose. I can always add the overspray with a detail gun later. |

My LeMans was built in Pontiac and when I bought the car 2-1/2 years ago from the wife of the original owner the car only had 54k original miles. The car still has all it's original paint (except the front half of the hood which I had repainted) and my car's firewall does not have the over spray. Did this depend on the plant possibly?

The front of the underside of the hood should have overspray on it too as well as the bottom of the floor by the frame rails but not on the frame since these cars were painted before the car was on the frame.

My KC car never had overspray on either one of those places.

By the way Dominic,
Just noticed something else you may want to consider, the muffler on the AC compressor on mine was originally black. I am just going about re-sealing the compressor and made these pictures yesterday. Unit was never touched in 45 years. I know for sure. Charles |
