I'm a huge fan of both Susan AND Derek! He was on stage with The Allman Brothers at age 13...his uncle was a founder. His name is one and the same as "Derek and the Dominos"...not sure how Clapton ties in.

Thumbs up As for today...

Going to see Bob Seger with the ORIGINAL J.Geils Band...with all original members except for guitarist J. Geils. Peter Wolf on vocals...Magic Dick on that lickin' stick! Same keyboard player. Ought to be something...ans Seger is my all-time favorite show. Saw B.B. King awhile back...how sad.

Saw the Trans Siberian Orchestra for the 3rd time this past November. Always like the show. Been roped into seeing "Train" a little later this year. Don't know anything about them but sounds like I will probably need a testosterone shot after that one!

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band in April 2013, and Roger Waters doing the "Wall" in June 2012. Both at the Hockey Arena in Buffalo. Both were outstanding. Was going to take my wife to Fleetwood Mac who are playing there 1/31/15, but the 200 level tickets we need to get her handicapped seats for her mobility scooter were $200 a seat. That was too greedy for me. We went to a lot of concerts in our "yute", rarely now.

Ron,
Saw J. Geils Band about 40 years ago at Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo. Can't remember who opened - Kleinhans is a venue that seats 7-8000, but it is a concert hall where the philharmonic plays. Anyways, there is a big delay between shows. Announcer comes on and indicates that their equipment was lost and that they had been borrowing stuff to do the show. He indicates that they need a blues harp in the key of C or D (I can't remember). I scream out I have one (the one that I drove my friends crazy with when we rode around). An usher or whoever came and got it and I actually heard Majic Dick (I always thought he was called Dirty Dick) play that harp the way it was supposed to be played. I got it back afterwards but never got to meet him or go back stage. Lost it somewhere a couple years later sadly, and even more sadly, never learned to play that harp the way it should be played. Saw Led Zep and Jethro Tull at Kleinhans too (early, early 70's) Sound couldn't have been any better. Have fun two great bands. Seger has lost a little voice but he's still great and the music/songs so good.

I saw Van Halen with David Lee Roth. Felt like 1982 again.

I've never seen Van Halen live. Hagar played at the AZ Bike Fest last year, caught that one.

I saw Elton John last year. I had sort of dismissed him but the wife wanted to go. I have to say he still puts on a great concert. When I saw the Eagles they were sort of going through the motions IMO. Each song from Elton was it's own show. It wasn't just a played thousands of times rehash of the original recording. You could tell, Elton was genuinely grateful that so many still come out to see him.

Now if we're talking best concert we've seen....1981 Rolling Stones with Van Halen as the warmup band in Orlando, FL at the then Tangerine Bowl. Concert closed with Jimi Hendrix's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner playing over the loudspeaker.

Probably the best concert I've ever been to was Alice Cooper, top notch all the way around including theatrics. This was way back, at the time they were filming for MTV.

Tom Waits in a small old theater in Chicago in 2010 or so. Expensive but worth it!

edit: Good Lord Almighty, after posting this, on a whim, I checked her tour schedule. I figured she'd be playin' Texas as usual (from Austin)..... in three weeks she is playing Spokane, a four hour drive. Guess I get to see her!

Last show was Gwar. Now that Oderous is dead will not go see them again, just not the same.
Thinking of going to see Clutch with Mastadon.

My last three concerts were Lady Antebellum last year in Greenville SC, Bob Segar 16-18 years ago in Lexington Ky and Aerosmith 20 years ago in Houston Tx. My first concert was Joe Cocker with Styx as the opening band in 1975 in Augusta Ga.

Last night's concert was Hozier, a newer name I'm sure to most of you but you'll be hearing a lot from him soon I hope - he's pretty tallented. The venue was the venerable Hammerstein Ballroom on West 34th Street in NYC - the best of the best have played there & if those walls could talk.....truly a great, intimate venue!

This song you've probably heard if you listen to any current radio stations - It's been overplayed to death....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVjiKRfKpPI

Here's a couple of deeper cuts off his album I just loaded up.

The tickets were a Christmas present to Cate & Patrick but he couldn't go due to a Finance Mid-Term this morning so I got to go!

Of course Cate got the set-list (I got one of them actually & she got the other) and then got them signed!
