if you bought the reproduction RA manifolds back then, they were probably made by R.A.R.E. when they did everything here in Texas. The Pypes Cross-Flow system is the best near stock 2.5" mandrel bent system to go with RA manifolds for ground clearance and performance. For your manifolds, get the Pypes 2.5" downpipes to go with it and some of the chrome tips. The 2.5" downpipes seal up to the 2.25" RA manifolds just fine. There is some minor triming and cursing required to install the system but the hangers are stock looking fit in the stock locations

Thank you Rick. I'll get busy doing my homework now.
Now that you mention it...I think R.A.R.E. was the company. In fact I'm almost sure of it.

Correct AC/Delco Ignition Coil
HellO Guys,
I still have the coil, condenser and bracket that was on my car when I got it back in 1980...but I'm not sure if it's the original or not! I've tried to search the forum and ain't having any luck. Can anybody help me with the correct AC/Delco coil number for my 71 HO bird? I've been google-ing and anything else I could think of. PS..Did GM use the same coils (as far as numbers go) on multi-make cars back then. Could I maybe use a Cadillac or Chevy and it have the correct type/number on it? Just a thought. Thanks Eddie.

The master parts catalog list it as...
1115238 so maybe it should have been embossed as... 238 B - R

To eleaborate a little more, it looks like that part number 1971455HO posted is used on a lot 60-74 Pontiac engines. It wouldn't surprise me if it crossed over into other makes as well.

"410" Delco Coils were originally installed on 1970 TA's, sometime mid year they switched to 424 coils through the end of 1971. An original 71 coil should have 424 B-R embossed on it. I am sure there are other numbers that were used for all "Pontiacs with a V-8"( P-8 is often a listing in MPC's which people mistakenly accept as ok for a TA) during these years, or possible superceded numbers like the 438 number someone else posted.. But without a doubt, 1970 coils were 410's,but 424's are dememed correct and 424 coils are the only number correct for 1971 TA's..

Pm me if so, I may not see it here.

72 455 ho formula
Does anybody know the whereabouts of my old HO formula? It was sold to a guy in portland OR about 4 1/2 years ago. It was painted white but the original color was bronze. It had a sr engine and the original auto tranny. I was just wondering if it has surfaced yet? This thread also needed to get a bump the sd guys are way out in front!

Was it a project, driver or nice car?
MOST HO Formulas tend to be "heavily optioned". Was yours? |

72 455 ho formula
I think the car had a dark saddle custom interior and the original exterior was quezal gold. Other than the handling package and rally gauges I don't think it had to many options.
It was a drivable project car. I sold it on ebay for far to little when our 1st kid was born. I found a pic of it. The gray one is my 71 455 ho the white one is the 72 and the burgundy 68 is a ram air 1 that i sold when our second kid was born. No mor kids I still have the 71 ken |
