To me, this concept looks like the front end/nose treatment on a 60's Buick Fullsize.

The bizarre 1938 Phantom Corsair. Looks really cool from the side, but that front end leaves something to be desired....

Always wanted the slingshot dragster but, never did. At least I have a real one now .
My understanding is this is a page from the Sears Christmas catalog 1969.

I could not hold off any longer. I bought 3 cox planes on ebay- 2 trainers and another P40. This will add to my other P40 and Corsair. Also found an old box in my stash with parts to a P51 and other trainers. Want to go flying again. Should be fun!

I had one of the funny cars 100 yrs ago too. Gas motor. Spun the wheels is I remember correctly to start it. Ran on a string and would hit a knot in the string to deploy the parachute and shut it off. Of course I was 6-8 when this happened so details may be scewed by old age.

Steve...I wonder how many younger folks (if any) will recognize that pic of the filming of the African Queen?

I had a Cox gas powered 65 Mustang with injection molded body (Orange Body / Black & Chrome detailed interior) in something like 1:16 scale. Body was hinged to chassis, and it came with pair of slicks that mounted on the stock rear wheels. IIRC: It came in a box like this one (Riviera kit below)

Wish I still had it, or the Light Blue GTO version like this one below:

Gawd, you guys bring back old memories. I had the Cox dune buggy. I think the pull string to start broke on the second try. Junked it. Oh well, I was a paperboy with a lot of cash LOL.
Cool pics on the junk yards. I toured many of them just like that (except they were rusty). Road my bike right in there. Child safety? What safety?

Alvin- thanks for the info and pic. that is a neat toy. It is always special to see the original box or package too.

Looks like people were leaving shopping carts in the middle of the parking lots back then too!

Steve - what is the ski-like thingy that the young lady is being towed on? Is that an outboard motor in the center of it?
