Hey Les,

The car looks GREAT! Here are some pics of my "survivor" carpet. Not and easy place to shoot pictures, so the quality and angles aren't too good but hope this helps. Looks like the factory guys were not too worried about how it looked under the seats.

Question Factory style.........

Thanks for the pics, Jim. I was thinking that the "flaps" were a little more tidy; I think that I am back to plan A; mount the bucket seats on top of the carpet, as before.

Thats what I did. As long as the tracks and the mounting brackets are painted and clean, I think it looks better.

Arrow Working hard.........

OK, no pics today: finished the carpet fitting, adjusted the centering of my Q/silver shifter in my console, installed the dash grab handle, kick panels, roof rail reading lamps, r/view mirror, A pillar s/s trims, and the glove box bumpers.

Oh, I also modded the h/light switch to light the parking lights when the w/lights are on. It looks very , thanks Gary .

HI. for some reason i love the color as well. the actual color of mine is fords medium calypso green bc/cc. but it is gone now. (my car, not the paint). had i known of a close factory color to that i would have used it at the time, but that was ten years ago.
i have a 67 in need of the Ames rear window channel but i am wondering why the bottom piece of metal in your pics shows that it was never replaced and that you have an open cut there. i have yet to try and dig into mine, but the alternative is to take it to portland ore, and have rust busters spray weld metal on the whole thing instead of replacing it. if i had it replaced i would probably try to also replace the metal that was cut out. do you know if that was possible or if that would have prevented welding the top piece in? just curious, as i would have been alittle surprised to see that open hole there after getting it back. i'm sure it would add hundreds of dollars to the bill to have had that done and i realize that no one would most likely see that, other than a judge looking all thru the trunk. sb

also, just out of couriosity, what did that paint job set you back, if you care to devulge. and how are you wringing out 1000 ponies? that's ungodly for a 17 yr old, let alone a 70 yr old!

Les exaggerates a lot (actually he was referring to his Holley carb which is an HP1000).

Not sure what you are referring to in my pic; the only rust on the entire car was some pinholing in the rear window lower glass channel which was repaired by replacing the entire panel (black in the pic) from the window to the trunk lid and from one sailpanel to the other. I notice that our host advertises a smaller version, but none in stock.

The restoration costs are itemized on page 3, post # 44. Mick is correct on the 1000HP Holley carb. I wish that I had a 1,000 ponies under the hood .

Great seeing the car come together. It's absolutely stunning...
The carpet; I think I remember you saying it came with the Legendary kit. Do you have a brand name on it. I will be using that same color in mine.
Looking at the "before" pic of your trunk makes my head spin. I shouldv'e come down there to buy a project. Here's what I am starting with.....

YOURS;

MINE; When I pulled the Orange and Rust shag carpet out, I found a section from another car layed on top to hold the gas tank.

Arrow Resto details...........

Hi Mitch,

Thanks for the kind words . Knowing that the color match is critical on Dark Aqua/turquoise interiors I ordered the entire interior from Legendary Auto Interiors who manufactures the door panels, seat covers, and the headliners in house, and then orders the carpet to match from ACC (Automotive Custom Carpets). This way all of the vinyl came from one dye lot and you will receive samples of the vinyl and carpet for approval PRIOR to them taking your order. I also ordered modern-type carpet mats to match, directly from ACC after requesting samples before ordering (their code: loop 05 aqua).

Living in the West it's hard to appreciate how bad you guys have it when restoring these old cars. In 2000, I bought the best car that I could afford: continuously registered, made in Fremont, and never out of SoCal. I paid the asking price of $10 grand for it, saving me thousands on bodywork in the long run, and providing me a great driveable project to enjoy while I planned for this resto . Good luck w/ your project: fortunately there are far more reproduction parts for our Pontiacs now then 10 years ago .

More progress yesterday: installed the trunk divider, quarter panels, pinchweld mouldings, seat belts, back seat, repositioned my Q/Siver shifter to center properly in the shifter boot, and installed the console. Getting close to finished, but I'm in no hurry since it has been raining hard here for the last few days and I don't want to get water on my NEW car .

WOW, that interior is show worthy....

Thanks for the carpet name, I thought you may have mentioned it previously. My interior was black and I'm changing the seats/panels to Parchment, but all the things that would be black with the Parchment will be turquoise instead.

wheelspin, all the pictures that you have posted in post #80 show what appears to be a rectangular cut from side to side under the windshield channel.

Question Not sure.......

Now I see the "cut" that you are referring to. I will have to ask my body man why this trimming was necessary since I wasn't present when he installed the new replacement panel .

could maybe have been rusted as well, or was needed for access. i don't know. maybe he just forgot it. out of sight, out of mind.
would be impossible to weld in anything now tho cause of the paint. i would think a filler panel could be made, and maybe, if possible or practical, spot weld it in the corners and not make too much heat. it might not matter if it's tacked or not...then use seam sealer around the whole edge smoothed with a stick or your fanger. then some trunk spatter paint and you'ld never notice. the truck was spatter painted anyway. the duplicolor products worked very well for me.

i also, being lazy, don't remember from your posts if you were able to score torquoise colored windlace. i was only able to find black and it had to be painted. how much of the torquoise colored interior parts were you able to find like the steering wheel, windlace etc? my body guy painted a dash pad for me and it looked way way better than the dark greenish icky color the original one did. i think my car was called seafoam green. but i don't know for sure. it's really close to what my and your color is. i didn't have the door jams painted it didn't make for much of a difference. my door interiors and interior were all torquoise as well. i hope i spell it right. there was no such thing as the internet for me back in 99 when i had my car done. i would love to repop my ol 66 in my 67 to a certain degree, as least as far as painting the insides and trunk and engine compartments, as it's all primered now. its only been gone since 2008 and i would like to find a source for original colored stuff. i was surprised to see a gto with a torquoise interior and not black. i dont know why i didnt think goats gave you much of a color choice, but i was wrong. i had the only torquoise car in the valley back then, and in the next six years saw 3 more 66-67's the same color! one had the same wheels even, i think all the others were goats, and one was a greener shade from the same 1995 ford truck color palet. lets just say i was p.o.d about it. but then, i can't think of any other color that looks as good either. esp w/ the matching interior. just a total wet dream.

Smile Interior parts color.........

Actually, for the first time since it's manufacture the interior of my Goat all matches due to my painter spraying the old windlace, seat belt retractors, Vintage Air dash outlets, console lower section, kick panels, and of course the dash. These cars also feature almost a forest green headliner, sun visors, and the same color trim around the rear window. Speaking of rarity, in 2002 we drove this GTO to the GTOAA Nationals held in Denver CO. After teching the car for judging, I was directed to my parking spot on the showfiield. Imagine my surprise when I found myself parked next to the identical car: 1966 GTO Sports Coupe painted Reef Turquoise w/ the same interior, only it was newly restored. My wife remarked "so that's what it is supposed to look like" .

Arrow Access......

I looked in the trunk, and you are correct it was for access to spot weld the new panel in. I don't think any additional work is warranted as there is still plenty of metal left for strength and you have to lay in the trunk to see it.
