LOL... really wish that is all it would take. But I'd also have to find someone to take my kids to school, to practices, someone to coach my daughter's soccer team, and my two girl scout troops... and help with dinner, do laundry, help with homework... yada yada yada

Well we finally got some where!!!

Pulled out the engine and the transmission. Cut out the old exhaust. Cut out the rest of the front seat. Vacuumed out the inside. Now I have the deck lid and the hood here at the house to strip and DA. Rob's decided the driver side quarter does need to be replaced, so he's going to start looking for some sheet metal. Next time we go up, we'll be starting the work on taking out the windows and repairing the metal on the rear quarters and the floor pans. I'll also need to remove all of the chrome from around the windows as well.

Forgot our camera, so no picture updates. Next time we can work on it will be the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Went up a week ago and yet again forgot the camera. But we stripped the car to the point where there's nothing left to strip:

Entire wire harness is out
All leftover carpet and insulation is out of the inside (except around the roof line where there's extra metal)
all glass has been removed
all chrome around the glass has been removed except for the chrome around the side rear windows
the seat bealts were finally pulled out
the miscellaneous stuff under the car was pulled out
the gas tank was pulled out
the cracked dash board was pulled out and thrown away (it was beyond belief)

I vacuumed it all out and next is the power was it desperately needs. Rob was looking at the trunk floor pan and it was worse than he thought, but he said underneath it was fine so he's just goign to cut what has to be gotten rid of and replace. Same for the floor pans in the front. The rear driver side quarter still has him scratching his head. This time he was talkinga bout just cutting out the wheel well and replacing the lip. Last time he was sure he needed to do at least a half skin. It needs to be washed and DA'd to the point he can see what the steel really looks like.

Don't know when that will be. Got the Holidays coming up.

Default PICTURES FINALLY!!!!

Went out today to pressure wash the car. It was 30 degrees out so the water pretty much froze as soon as I sprayed it on to the car, but I got a lot of the junk off of the car so we can see better the areas where we are going to have to do some metal work.

First, here is the completely stripped down car:

But this is what Rob and I were surprised to find.... cancer inside the rear and front window seams from obvious leakage. Hard places to patch metal. ALso a couple of places at the deck lid seam with the back bumper.

BOY! When he says strip - you take everything off don't you?

That's a hell of a project - good luck with it!

Mike - I still would have loved to have owned that one, but it'll forever be the one that got away.

Boss - Its OUR project. Hopefully you'll see it fully restored at Norwalk and kicking Rob's butt on the strip!

For those window channels use two-part epoxy. I don't remember what brand I used on my 63 Tempest, but it worked great. Dries hard as a rock yet is sandable. It makes a very difficult job a little easier.

I don't know about that Mike. That bird had some issues that were worse than this cars from what I can see. I'd rather deal with southern rust than an old Indiana patch job any day. [Yeah I've got several of the latter waiting on me to build and have built several of them]

She's HOME!!!!! ROb went up Sunday and towed her home!!!!

She's sitting in the garage right now with her rear quarters undergoing some significant cutting. But we've laready got the new quarters that will replace them, so it's all good.

I'll post more pics of ROb's work when I get a chance.

She's home!!!!

Got the rear quarter hung, welded in to place and even ground down.

Also cut out the floor pans to replace with the new ones.

Getting there. Slowly but surely.

OK! Got some time to finally post some pictures. A lot of work has been done in the last month. And more is coming. It's really starting to come together.

Here's the driver's side rear quarter with new skin on it and mud and the final picture is with the primer on and its ready for paint. My body guy is awesome!
