Just currious, if theres no issues capping that off, than why is it there? Is it just for reroute of the coolant from the heater core back to the motor?

If thats the case, than Im taking mine off this weekend. I hate unneeded clutter under the hood.

Hey Nick, you have a closer shot of that water pump?

Yep. The block fitting is the high pressure side pushing the coolant through the heater core, and the fitting at the water pump is a low pressure area that allows the coolant to complete the return path. By capping the heater nipples off, all you are doing is making the passenger side of the engine cooling the same as the driver's side.

If you are never going to use the heater, then the most permanent fix is to remove the block nipple (not always easy) and put an expansion plug in the head, and then fill the heater nipple on the water pump with JB weld. Kind of freaks people out when they look down at the bare fitting not being capped off. I tried to use a threaded plug, but each time the old timing cover nipple has cracked and I end up just filling things in anyway.

I did some interior work today. My old carpet was pretty nasty so I called up PY and had them ship me some new black carpet. I would say the fit is 8/10 Its sloppy by the shifter hump but you really can't see it.

I also took some shots of my GTO's original floors. Its hard to believe this car is 45 years old and has floors this clean. It had a touch of surface rust in a few spots but no rot at all. Quite amazing. Its also a testament to the awesomeness of California original cars!

Original floors...yep, unreal

I just stuck a big old ebay 1.25" WS6 swaybar and some poly bushings and links in to replace the stock 7/8" bar and beat up bushings and end links. I also made a thread about it here...

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=695706

Install was very easy and straight forward. If you want pics/info of that click the link

My next little project was to install some control arm braces from UMI. When I do the rest of my suspension ill probably go with their products. They seem to be a great product made in the USA and priced very well. I talked to Ramey from UMI on the phone today with a question on the install and he was very helpful. Customer support is very important to me, it earns business IMO.

I have heard these help with wheel hop and judging by the 40' burnout i did today i would say that they definately helped out. It was a strong 40'er and no wheel hop at all....

Dang! that is a beautiful car. The wheels really set the car off and the lack of a pin stripe does not take away from it at all! I only hope mine looks half as good when it's done.

Beautiful car.......

Ramey is awesome at UMI. I have the UMI Front UCA & LCA's

I also bought those rear supports you have there......... but I couldnt install 1 side, one of the mufflers is just too close to fit it in.

Some of the goodies inside.....New Legendary Rallye seat setup, rear seat, Door panels, headliner kit, sun visors, all kinds of trim stuff and more! Hopefully this car is a bit more fun to drive this year with an interior that isn't 45 years old and falling apart!

Very nice Nick!! Where did you order your interior from? Are the door panels the assembled ones, or do you have to use your existing top piece's?

Beautiful car. Are the control arm braces adjustable? Just curious as to why.
I have Edelbrock braces on my 65.

I bought it all through Legendary Auto Interiors. They were having a big 20% off sale so I got a bunch of stuff.

I'm reusing my original stainless trims for now since they're in decent shape but the carpet came attached. On the back of the door panel they have guides for where to punch holes so it makes it almost fool proof as long as you know where things are supposed to go.

UMI said the consensus is that not all of the frames are spot on identical. they might be really close but they're not identical and there is room for tolerance from the factory so this makes it easier to install.
