Currantly working on the wheels. If you saw over on the Hamb, chrome slots on the front ground down and painted silver and reversed steel rims on the back.

Just to make sure your aware the top radiator hose on the radiator I posted is off to the driver side not centered like the 55 radiator. You'll want a 55 chevy radiator to make fit if you want a centered upper hose.

Finally got the tires and wheels back on. Went ahead and went with black steelies all the way around. I couldn't believe how nice the rustoleum appliance epoxy looked with minimal prep. First wheel pic is the front with the appliance epoxy, I have to do the other wheels to match now when I get the differant slicks mounted. The rear is a reversed wheel I made up with a ford center and a 15 x 8 truck wheel.

Bill the black rims look really good on there. Or just add some dark spoked torque thrust fronts. I wanted to use chrome rear rims but no one will make them over 12 wide. I need at least 14 or better yet 15 wide. Your '55 is looking great Bill. MArk L

Thanks for the comments, lots of changes for my car this year. Not really worried about getting it painted or anything, just going faster. Going from a 13 sec car to an 11 sec car with the new engine build.

Bill, I've dropped in on this topic now and then over the years. I've been impressed with your work, and I think the '55 is the best looking Poncho of the 50's. Well now I've stumbled upon a red/white '55 and hope to get my hands on it. If I can get it, I'll be dropping in much more often.
Thanks for documenting this throughout the years.

Thanks and good luck getting the 55. I keep telling my wife i'm going to get her a wagon but she has no interest . She probably thinks one old car is enough. I'll be updating this soon when the 455 goes in and some of the other work like the GTO headers I redid to fit on the driver side.

A few more updates on the 55. A few of my 455 and spent all last week of my vacation to get it in and running for a nostaligic race over the weekend. Ran a 12.4 in the 1/4 still has plenty left in it. Engine was installed using the 2nd style Hurst engine mounts.

Also planning over the winter on switching to a 3900 stall and 4:30 gears over the 2700 stall and 3:73 in now. And taking off the 3 tube headers for some nice 1 3/4" tube headers .

Now all you need to do is flatten out and move the flair back a little further putting a point to it and flair the rear fender lip to match the one on the front to make it look symmetrical/belonging.

Thanks for the comments, on the rear 1/4 I went back and forth, had a couple junk fenders I was going to use the lip section to do something like was mentioned or flare out the back without the flare and just didn't like it personally. But ended up this way, the rear part is actually the factory opening . Welded 3/8 brake line to help build it out some with bondo. I posted this in the race section also but another pic I found from some coverage that was on their website.

When I was in H/S (1967) I found a 55 860 not to far from my parents house. I let it slip by as I already had my dad's old A/SA 59 tri-power Catalina that by then (67) I was running in F/SA and driving to school and work. At the time the 860 which was in good shape was going for $150. The gasser look brings back memories. I just couldn't part with the 59, but doing something like your car I really wanted to do.

I ended up a best 7.50 pass(11.70 1/4) and 1 more race left this year. I plan on joining a local gasser group for next year so that will let me get it out more.

Here's a few Photoshop pics I had done over on the HAMB i'm considering.
