I'm not familiar with this place

https://www.facebook.com/PontiacSpeedShop/

They claim to be making this LS7 lifter a drop in deal.

He says it will work with up to .400 lobe lift so it would work with my stump puller cam. I'm pushing to get my motor working again and figuring out what rollers to use is #1 on my list. It will either be this option or the Johnson short travel.

Many questions come up. If the lifter weight is half for the LS7 then would I need to change springs and pushrods?

Jim Lehart shared his design with me a few months ago for my bulid. The block doesnt need to be ground, the hold downs from the ford retainer kit need to be ground slightly with a belt sander if using his design.

I think the cam billet will determine how far the lifter goes down the lifter bore!If a small base circle core is used the dog bones can contact the block! One of the videos shows the need to grind the top of the lifter boss.On high lift cams the base circle is reduced at times.Tom

I'd rather grind the Tab then the block.

Nevermind. I watched the video link. Cheaper and less weight.

Default As a friend noted,

It is interesting to use a comp cams Ford kit to put Chevy lifters in a Pontiac.

Hope a bunch of people give this a try in the near future. If it turns out to work ok I may jump on the bandwagon.

Anyone know how the diameter of the roller on the LS lifters compares to the aftermarket hydraulic rollers like comp cams or others?

Default lifters

choose your lifters wisely and check everything I have done this deal a couple times and it works fine but it will not work with the new ls7 lifters (delphi as the oil hole is way to high). The lifter I use is a sealed power 2148 which is a small block chevy lifter and also interchanges with some early ls lifters. true LS 7 lifters will not work with any of the combos i have done. The only way to make them work would be a smaller base circle cam and then yo would need to check the oil band at the bottom of the bore to make sure it did not come out of the bore. I have pics of an ls7 lifter on a .377 lobe lift cam i will post.

Hotbird- Do you have a pic of the 2148 lifter on the same cam? OR a pic of one on any cam?
Thanks!

Default 2148 lifter

Here is a picture of a 2148 lifter not at max lift. I attached this picture because if you notice the top of the lifter bore is chamfered. I currently have 3 blocks with at least one hole chamfered. With the same .377 lift the 2148 oil hole is about .025-.030 down in the bore below the chamfer so you would have to be cautious and check things close as the lobe lift gets near .390-.400. This engine is still on the stand in my shop Ill get more pics at max lift with the 2148 tomorrow. This combo works great people just need to be cautious and verify everything not just drop them in and go.

Are we seeing the oil hole getting exposed there?

Well that's no good.

And now I'm confused. Here you are showing us that the oil hole is exposed on a .377" lobe lift cam and in your next post you say the oil hole is .025 - .030 down below the chamfer on a cam with those lobes.

Can you clarify for me?

Will-
2148 lifter is down in the hole. The Delphi LS7 lifter is out of the hole.
GM has/had 2 suppliers of lifters. I'm not sure when the LS7 style lifter became the norm in LSx platforms, or if it even is- maybe people are just mixing and matching, but the 2148 is the SBC/early LSx lifter type.

I think this is the Delphi (ls1) compared to the Seal power (ls7). I found this discussion here.

Look at these two screen shots that I grabbed from that video. It looks to me like the round main lifter body is coming out far enough to lift the dog bones. It also looks like the spider is contacting the lifters. I have no experience with dog bones like these, but are they upside down?
