I am glad i have not started cutting yet but i am pretty bummed. I have half the parts and the car tore apart but oh well. I will put in the QA-1's up front and try out the 4000 conti.

I guess i just need to get the A/F dialed in this year and use some nitrous.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I am frustrated that i cannot drive it, all the other cars are out and i know some are looking for me to try and take the title, lol.

Sometimes you do what you gotta do.

There will be time to finish at a later date, a car is nothing to stress yourself financially or emotionally about, its suppose to do the exact opposite.

So its official, its going back together without the tubs.

I got the tranny with conti 4000 put in and the rearend is in aswell.

Hoping to have it runing for friday.

On a side note, i can fit my et streets if i move the shocks inboard and go to caltracs at my current height. I might do that this summer to test them out.

Ordered the caltracs and adj. shocks today. Once they are in then i can run my ET streets without the tubs.

Cutting it close though, go racing in two weeks. Hoping everything will be here in time so i can install it.

Cool, what changes that allows you to run the other tires?

Mostly the shock location, by moving them in board i have much more room. Also the traction bar shock mounts are in the way, the cal tracs will fix that too.

Thanks for all the info guys. I will be going through this shortly on my 73' as well. I plan on using DSE tubs. Hope both our cars turn out great.

Happy Modding!

Just got my trailer back together and picked up my new tow vehicle. Needs a clutch so that is on the agenda this week.

It pulls it fine other than my rear springs being worn out. I will be replacing them this winter i think.

The old 350 works pretty hard on hills, my mileage sucks wether i am pulling or not but it did the job for a few years. Time for something better. The '93 still only has a 350 but its EFI and should have as much if not more power than the replacement 350 in the '80 plus better drivability.

I am not sure about gearing in the '93 yet, have to check it out. It does have the OD 5 speed which will be nice when i am running to pick up an engine or something.

The '80 has 4.56 gears and 36'' tires, i usually pull with the stock 31'' tires for the extra effective gearing (and rpms, lol).

Now i am free to spice up the '80 with a poncho and more lift/tire.

Got the QA-1's installed in the front tonight. Waiting to pickup some wheel seals for the new drilled/slotted rotors and then the ceramic pads. Hope this will help some weight transfer and braking. No caltracs or rear shocks yet, almost out of time to have them in by thursday night.

Is it a track rental on Thursday?

What changes in total have you made since last outing?

No, want to be loaded up thursday night so i can head out at noon friday from work.

Differences are 3800 convertor VS 3200, adj. QA-1's in front, drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads.

My caltracs and ranchos are in town, will get them from the depot tomorrow but not sure i will have time to fab up the shock mounts to install everything, might call in sick thursday lol..

Took it for a drive lastnight, QA1's feel good. I had to crank the ride height up a fair bit due to the 350# springs and my tall tires i think. New brakes feel good and firm.

Caltracs and shocks will be in my hands today some time. Took today off work and maybe tomorrow to try and get everything together in time.

Received my caltracs and shocks, nice stuff! Getting some shock tabs made this afternoon and picking up new u-bolts. Hoping to have this stuff in late tonight.

Talked to travis and got a good starting point for tuning and will see how it works out friday night.

That's interesting, I installed them with zero preload. Made sure everything was at zero "lash", works great. Comes out straight, no issues. Made a HUGE improvement in consistency.

Awesome, i do need some consistency. Spent most of the day running around getting parts, etc. The shock mounts will be made up tomorrow at the earliest maybe not in time for me but i hope. Bare minimum i will get the caltracs in and possibly fab some rudimentry shock mounts for the weekend or use the stock location and old tires.

About to start the disassembly of the trac bars, etc. and hope to have the cal tracs all bolted in later tonight.

Tried finding some clips for my window trim and no one in town has them, bummer.

Anyways, let the work begin!
