1959 Edsel Ranger two door hardtop. My dad gave to me for Christmas in 1980. Was 17 at the time and still got it.

Default first car

My first car was a 1969 Camaro, 307 3 speed, I rebuilt the 307 and added an old Edlebrock TM1 alum intake, 600 Holley, headers,Mallory dist-etc, etc...
Ended-up switching the 3 speed manual for a M22 RockCrusher 4 speed. Worked great until I exploded the main shaft in the M22. It was green with white hockey stick stripes and a white vinyl top.

1960 Chevy Biscayne, 6-cyl 3-speed...paid $50, a year later traded for a $150 '60 Impala hardtop, 283 3-speed. This was 1969-70.

1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner convertible. 352 2bbl automatic. Black with white top and red and white interior. Paid $75 in 1974. It had 100K miles at that time, and I put another 40K on it with pretty much routine maintenance.

72 LeMans Sport 400 (2bbl) auto in '78. Revere Silver with a black vinyl top and interior. The A/C didn't work and it definitely used up quite a few of my teenage paychecks. But it was cool, and at 17, that's all that mattered...well and of course girls.

Default 68 LeMans

68 LeMans, Verdero green, black vinyl top, parchment interior, 4 speed, 265 horse 2bbl, 75K highway miles. Kinda rusty in the usual places, I got it in 1977 for $700 and it was running great. Lost my DL for 1 year in 78 doing 73 in a 25, (loved that 4th gear chirp I kind of messed it up over the next 12 years, doing a crap fix job on the rear wheel wells, and installing a sun roof, jacked it up, big tires and rims. Sold it cause the clutch was slipping and the radiator leaking - for $200 in 1981 - baby was on the way. dooh!

I just got my 68 GTO project car on the road after 7 years of work, 30 years since my first taste in a Pontiac. It is good to be back.

mine was a 1975 baby blue esprit firebird. it was 1985 and i did not know the difference between a camaro and a bird. my father and i yanked the six and dropped a 327 vette motor in it. i totalled the car in 1988 with 3 of my friends in the car . we were all okay, and it was almost 10yrs later that i got back into the hobby........

'77 LeMans Sport Coupe - It was a nice ride for a 16 year old kid. I find myself looking at Can Am's and may purchase one some day.

I bought my first car about 3 weeks befor school started at a salvage yard. I found it on ebay and my dad didn't like the looks of it because it was cheap and didn't have any info on it other than it has a non running V8, needed a hood, needed to have some dents fixed and other stuff. My dad said that I would have to pay him back and he said that he wouldn't do it because it could have been stolen. My dad comes home from work and asks if I was the proud new owner of a Lemans and I said yes. So I sold My gas powered R/C cars and we picked it up that week and I have been busy with high school soccer since. The season ends on tuesday or thursday depending on play Offs...Can't wait to get a job and start restoring it.

After I get some money and time( soccer season ends this week, So I will have time and a job), I plan on getting some nice Rally II's or Cragars, Getting a 400, 428, or a 455 purchased rebuilt and installed, getting it all primer, buying the body stuff I need, and getting my license in 2.5 months and drive it around.

It has no rust, I need to replace the passenger door and fender and put the front end on. I also need to buy: Front and rear Valance, hood hinges, bucket seats ( i want to convert it to a floor shift), and an engine. I bought it for 550, and have spent about 450 on it...hood, registration, front nose peice, and little stuff.

Bullydawg, my first was a 70 LeMans also. Paid $179 at a car lot in 87. Someday I will have another. Good luck, looks like a nice solid car with a whole lot of potential. Mitch

My 1st car was a 66 2+2 (YH 421, column shifted turbo 400). Bought it in 1984 when I was 15 for $250. My folks talked me into selling it about 8 months later before I got my license. Needless to say my 2nd car sucked! It was a 76 Chevette. My 5th car I got when I was 17... a 4speed 67 GTO for $600! Didn't have any money or resources to fix it so I sold it for $750... young and DUMB what can I say. I sold a cherry 53,000 mile 67 Bonneville 2dr (my 4th car) to buy the GTO

1971 Pontiac Ventura II, 2DR, 250 6 cyl, three on the tree, power nothing, 1 belt, column bushings wore out and got converted to a Hurst indy floor shift. Paid $700.00 for it in 1981( when I was 16), sold in 1986 for $500.00, but not before replacing it with the much more upscale 1972 Ventura II (in sig), 307 v8,Power brakes, steering and A/C, bought it from a local dealer in Pensacola for 1000.00 (negotiated them down from 1200.00). Sold it late 1991 after buying a new 1992 Honda Civic. Wondering where my 72 is now....Drove a Pontiac Ventura II for the first 10 years of my driving life....

Default Long Term Relationship

1st car, year 1976: 1965 Bonneville, 389 auto, rusty crusty battleship gray paint, w/fenders flapping in the breeze from terminal Midwest rust. Got it from a buddy who owned it all through high school, so I was already very familiar with it. $100. Drove it for 1 1/2 years. Pulled the engine and trans. Junked the car. Began search for mid-size to put 389 in. 2nd car, year 1977: Found a dead '67 Tempest in the weeds behind a bar. Paid some drunk dude $50 and hauled it home (OHC6, 3 spd). Transplanted the 389 and TH400 after a JC Whitney and junk yard parts engine rebuild, added a Holley spreadbore carb, a shift kit for the trans, and some el cheapo headers. Ran 14.30's and took home half a dozen trophies! It was also my daily driver. Times changed, priorities changed, many cars came and went, and the Tempest sat in a barn for 12 long years until I finally resurrected it in 1998. Had it racing again within a few months and after some mods, it ran a best time of 13.82 ...out of the same basic JC Whitney junk yard 389 that was originlly the "heart" of my '65 Bonne! I still have the '67 Tempest. ...See my avatar. 389 is now retired, although it ran like a champ right up to the day I pulled it out. Big honkin' EFI 467 is in it now. ...How's that for a long term relationship?!

1971 Buick Opel, but drove it into the woods racing someone on a windy road on the same day that I got my drivers licence. The car was totaled!
